Summary
Almost nobody is a small character when it comes toResident Evilgames. For every main protagonist, like Leon Kennedy and Ethan Winters, there are minor characters that stand out in a single chapter of a story or appear throughout a game. As a result, some have become playable characters later on in subsequent games or DLC expansions.
Surprisingly, there are very fewResident Evilcharacters who have never been playable in any main story or secondary mode, such as The Mercenaries. These characters, from memorable sidekicks to well-known villains, could provide unique gameplay experiences and introduce fresh perspectives on the rich lore of the series.
6Jack Baker
Jack Welcomed Gamers To The Scariest Family Ever
When Capcom returned to full-fledged survival horror withResident Evil 7: Biohazard, fans were able to play as several new characters, including Ethan Winters, Joe Baker, Zoe Baker, and the beloved Chris Redfield. One character who truly stood out as a tragic antagonist wasJack Baker, viewed asan indestructible servant of Evelineafter receiving The Gift, which transformed him into a fungus-like monster.
All the Baker family were given a similar affliction, but Jack is the most prominent throughout the game. Since the many main stories and DLC chapters showed multiple characters’ perspectives, it was surprising that Jack Baker never got a similar treatment, especially when it was revealed that Jack and his family were loving people before Eveline took over.
The Pilot Who Became A Hated Character
On the one hand, it’s easy to see whyBrad Vickersisn’t a main character, as there is a reason to despise him. He was the helicopter pilot that abandoned the S.T.A.R.S. team in the Aklay Mountains in the original Resident Evil to save his own life, and he was quick to want to run when Raccoon City fell in the next two games, earning him the reputation of being cowardly.
TheResident Evil 3remake, on the other hand, gives Brad slightly more character depth by showing him atone for his mistakes. With the short campaign for the game, the remake could have had chapters focusing on other characters, with Brad being one toshow a transformation into a zombiewhile surviving being stalked by Nemesis.
4Annette Birkin
The Remake Made Her More Interesting
One of the best character changes in theResident Evil 2remake,Annette Birkinis portrayed less like a mad scientist and more like a scientist who made mistakes and is trying to fix them. She is aware of the dangers that she and her husband William have unleashed on the world and is trying to destroy it. She also shows more concern for her daughter Sherry than in the original.
The new route for Annette Birkin could have made her justas interesting as Leon Kennedyand Claire Redfield. Instead of a hero or a villain, Annette is something in-between that shows that not every antagonist is all about letting the apocalypse happen.
3Alan Droney
Mia’s Partner And Agent Of The Connections
One of the big twists ofResident Evil 7: Biohazardis that Mia Winters worked for an agency known as The Connections, partnered with a man namedAlan Droneyto protect the E-Type B.O.W. named Eveline. Alan is shown in the flashback chapter when Eveline broke out and crashed the ship, leading to the corruption of the Baker family.
Alan and Mia’s history with The Connections further expands on the lore in a world wherethe fall of Raccoon City happenedmany years prior. Alan could have been the star of a prequel game or another DLC forResident Evil 7, showing The Connections in more detail and how they tie into the Umbrella Corporation.
2Merchant
Fans Have Loved Him Since He First Debuted
Seen only in the original and remake versions ofResident Evil 4, theMerchantis an enigmatic character that has had fans curious since 2004. His identity is unknown and there is no explanation as to how his robes hold so many guns and, conveniently, the correct ammo needed for all the different weapons in the game, but trading in treasure for loot from him was always a delight.
In the Mercenaries mode of various games, characters like Luis and Wesker are available for enjoyment. Wesker boasts bioengineered powers in his loadout, which means the enigmatic Merchantcould serve as a walking cheat code, equipped with unlimited weapons and guns hidden under his cloak, creating a fun power fantasy that effectively represents an easy mode.
1Lady Dimitrescu
She’s A Walking Meme And A Powerhouse
Resident Evil: Villagewas the introductionto multiple now-iconic villains, from Heisenberg to Mother Miranda, but since she first appeared in the marketing,Lady Dimitrescuhas become the face of the game. The visual of a ten-foot-tall vampire woman became an equal source of fear and comedy in the fanbase.
Considering how much of meme Lady Dimitrscu became thanks toResident Evil: Village, it is surprising that Capcom never took advantage of her popularity through DLC. She could have been a playable character in a PVP mode where Lady Dimitrescu stalks other players to kill them, utilizing her unique take on vampire abilities.
