Reacheris one of the most popular TV shows onPrime Video, and it stars Ritchson in the titular role. The series is based on Lee Child’s hit “Jack Reacher” book series. Its first season debuted on May 28, 2025, and it was based on the first book. The show didn’t follow the order of the books, asReacherSeason 2 was based on the 11th book,Bad Luck And Trouble,and Season 3 was from the seventh novel,Persuader. The series was renewed for another season, and Ritchson has shared his idea forReacherSeason 4.
After a successfulReacherSeason 3,Ritchson and his co-star Maria Sten sat down for an interview withMen’s Journal. The latter shared her favorite book from Child’s “Jack Reacher” series while they chatted about the upcoming fourth season. According to her, her “favorite book” was the fifth one,Without Fail.However, she felt that they would not pursue it on the show. Ritchson agreed that many “want to doWithout Fail.” However, if it were up to him, he would wantReacherSeason 4 to be based on another book. “My favorite book is ‘Die Trying,'” Ritchson shared. He added that there were already discussions about it and teased that he would “find a way” to make it possible.
I would love to see that happen. And so far, there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not we should or should not. I guess we’ll see what the future holds. I’ll find a way.
Alan Ritchson Wants Reacher To Die Trying (Not Really, Though)
Die Tryingis the second book in the series and was published in 1998. The plot of the high-octane book is set in Chicago, where Jack Reacher helps a young woman struggling with her crutches outside a dry cleaner, and the pair end up being abducted. It turns out that the woman he helps is Holly Johnson, an FBI agent, and a militia group wants to use her to get what they want: to withdraw from the United States. Holly is the daughter of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the goddaughter of the President. Reacher uses his military training and strategic mindset as they navigate the militia’s compound for freedom. Since the story features various military forces, it is considered to have a huge scope. However, with Ritchson’s commitment to bringing it onscreen, he could make it happen.
Ritchsonis very much involved in the series, so he is likely to have a say when it comes to where the show is going. In another recent interview, Ritchson shared a “huge fight” between him and his team when he insisted on doing a dangerous stunt. His request to do it was repeatedly turned down, but he didn’t accept “no” for an answer. They eventually allowed him to do it, but he was sternly warned not to die. While filming, Ritchson was knocked unconscious and woke up “a day and a half later.” It was a lesson he had to learn the hard way. SinceDie Tryingwould be another action-packed season, he’s hopefully be more careful on set. He is the perfect Jack Reacher, and fans want to see more of him.
