Assassin’s Creed Shadowsadds depth to its combat by allowing players to inflict various affliction/status effects on enemies. Some weapons come with a certain percentage of affliction buildup as their attribute, which gradually puts the enemy under a status effect. Understanding what these afflictions are and how they work can be the key to gaining the upper hand in combat, even when facing a higher-level enemy in the game.
The Bleed Affliction (Status Effect)
The Bleed affliction shows up as a blood drop symbol on top of the enemy’s head when you’re attacking them with a weapon with a bleed buildup stat. Once the bar is full, the enemy will be completely under the bleed status effect. This will allow players todeal a significant amount of bonus damageto enemies, even finishing them off with one or two strikes depending on your gear and enemy level.
However, once the bleed affliction wears down, you’ll have to keep hitting the enemy to fill it back up. It’s a great affliction to use if you’re dealing with bosses orelite enemies with huge health bars.
The Poison Affliction (Status Effect)
The poison affliction shows up as a white skull symbol with a purple circle filling up on the enemy’s head when you’re hitting them with a poison buildup weapon. Once the enemy is completely under the poison affliction, they’ll get light damage over time.
In addition to the damage, poisoned enemies may vomit and even get their attacks interrupted during combat.
The Daze Affliction (Status Effect)
