Summary
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’glaring Hideout frame rate dip is in Ubisoft’s list of known bugs and will be addressed in a new update. Having just recently been released last week,Assassin’s Creed Shadowshas received glowing reviews, as its long-wished-for feudal Japan setting has impressed players and critics alike. Its dual protagonists also seem to be a hit, as both Yasuke and Naoe provide players with wildly different types of gameplay, appeasing fans of both true stealth and the later open-combat-focusedAssassin’s Creedgames likeOdysseyandValhalla.
Early on inAssassin’s Creed Shadows' main story, players are introduced to the Hideout, a clearing that players can call their own and can build and decorate as they see fit. Players can find materials out in the open world that can be used to build useful structures within the Hideout, like a forge for upgrading weapons and gear, a dojo for training, and stables, which can help players' scouts carry even more materials back to the Hideout. It’s also a place where players can display the many paintings and trinkets they might happen upon on their journey across feudal Japan.
Assassin’s Creed Shadowsplayershave been noticing a dramatic frame rate drop while inside the Hideout, even with the game’s otherwise very smooth performance mode enabled. The good news is that Ubisoft is well aware of the issue and has it in its crosshairs to be fixed inAssassin’s Creed Shadows’first major title update. On the game’s subreddit, Ubisoft posted a list of known bugs players have found and reported inAssassin’s Creed Shadows, and while the list is somewhat small, the Hideout FPS bug sits near the top.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows' Hideout Frame Rate Issue Will Be Fixed Soon
Given the nature ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows' Hideout being a fully customizable area, it would have made sense for the frame rate to dip or to be intentionally capped off, but now Ubisoft has confirmed that it is indeed a bug. It’s not a huge issue for those who don’t spend a lot of time in the Hideout, though players are required to return to it periodically as part of the main story. As for some of the other bugs in Ubisoft’s Reddit post, the developers are aiming to make distracting enemies with Naoe’s Shinobi Bell more consistent, fix an issue withYasuke’s Teppo skill tree, and resolve some quest-specific glitches.
While it’s not known when this first bigAssassin’s Creed Shadowstitle update will arrive, players shouldn’t expect to have to wait too long. It would be smart for those who want to dig deeper intoAssassin’s Creed Shadows' base-building Hideout mechanicsto take this time to scour the open world for materials to be ready to build once the Hideout’s frame rate is fixed.
