Summary
Ubisoft has revealed the console specs forAssassin’s Creed Shadows. Hype around the game has been steadily building as its March 20 release day finally approaches after several delays. With the launch day now firm and closing in, Ubisoft is leaning into that excitement, letting fans know just what they can expect fromAssassin’s Creed Shadows' technical performance.
Fans already had a lot to expect from the latest in theAssassin’s Creedseries. Its listing on the Mac App Store revealedShadowsis the largest file size inAssassin’s Creedhistory, weighing in at a whopping 123GB. Now that Ubisoft has clarified its console specs, it’s clear that, on top of being huge, the game should also look and feel fairly impressive.
Assassin’s Creed Shadowsoffers three modes: Performance, which prioritizes frame rate, Fidelity, which sacrifices frames for crisper images and better lighting, and Balanced, which offers a middle ground between the two. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users will be able to get a 2160p upscaled resolution across all three settings, but the Series S only reaches 1620p. Likewise, the PS5 and Series X achieve 60 FPS with selective ray tracing in Performance mode, while Fidelity and Balanced modes offer more regular ray tracing at 30 FPS and 40 FPS, respectively. The PS5 Procan runShadowswith extended ray tracingin Fidelity and Balanced modes, but apart from better ray tracing, the specs are mostly the same between it and other consoles.

The Series S is the only console that doesn’t push the game past 30 FPS or support full ray tracing. It will also only get one mode, but that’s to be expected of a console with lower specs. There’s still good news for Series S users, though.Xbox players can preloadAssassin’s Creed Shadowsnow, while PC users will need to wait until March 17. Preloads don’t start for PS5 users until March 18, but that still leaves a couple of days to install it before release day.
Given the game’s high technical demands,Assassin’s Creed Shadowswon’t run on Steam Deck, so handheld gamers will miss out on this one, barring any future optimizations. For now, PC and console owners can get ready by clearing their disc space and making sure they have the specs to run the biggestAssassin’s Creedgame to date. It’s been a long road to release day for anACtitle, but the wait is almost over.
