There are a lot of hidden caches and locked chests players can find throughoutAtomfall. The Windfall Crate is one that can befound relatively early in the game, depending on which direction you go first inAtomfall, and the rewards you find inside Windfall’s Crate make it something players should prioritize.
To unlock the Windfall Crate,Atomfallplayers must first find the Windfall Key. Both the crate and keycard can be found within Skethermoor –follow this guide to learnthe Windfall’s Crate location, how to unlock it, and what rewards are contained within.
Windfall’s Crate Location
The Windfall Crate location inAtomfallisin the middle of Skethermoor, down a unique Protocol bunker that can be hard to get into without getting shot by nearby soldiers.Look for the Protocol Field Station at coordinates 41.3E, 74.9N in Skethermoor.
If you are trusted by Captain Sims, Protocol soldiers may not become aggressive towards you on sight, but it’s still a dangerous location to stay in for too long – they’ll still become hostile if you get in their way. If you are hostile (or neutral) with Protocol, quickly sprint to this bunker entrance and mash the stealth input to duck down quickly once inside.
In here, you will find the Windfall’s Crate in a room just off to the side, but until you find the Windfall Keycard, you won’t be able to unlock Windfall’s rewards.
How To Open Windfall’s Crate
To unlock Windfall’s Crate,Atomfallplayers must find the respective Windfall Keycard. It’s not too far away,but it will be a bit of a walk. It’s best to pick up this keycard first then head to the Windfall’s Cache location inside of the Protocol Field Bunker to save some time backtracking (and spend less time around Protocol soldiers).
Windfall Keycard Location
TheWindfall Keycard can be found within the Protocol Workshop in the far north of Skethermoor at coordinates 38.0E, 77.4N.To get herewithout too much fuss from hostilesin the area, leave Wyndham Village via the Skethermoor entrance, then hug the wall to the left across the creek and travel east.
Crouch down toavoid being seen by any roaming enemies, and continue to hug the northern boundary of Skethermoor until you see a bunker. There may be a small group of Protocol Soldiers just nearby, so carefully stealth behind them and enter the Protocol Workshop location.
Once inside, you will have to avoid being seen by roaming Protocol soldiers within the bunker.Either kill all of the soldiers, or stealth past them using the crawl spaces and hidden rooms, until you reach a lavatory.
Squeeze through the slightly ajar doors at the far end of the set of toilets, then continue down this path until you find a body labelled ‘Windfall’. Loot this body to get the Windfall Keycard, then head back to the Protocol Field Bunker to open the Windfall’s Crate.
What’s Inside Windfall’s Crate?
The Windfall’s Crate is well worth the time it takes to open, especially if you have not yet found one of the game’s most useful tools – the most notablereward from the Windfall Crate is a Signal Redirector. This tool can be used toredirect the power on certain switch boxes and power supplies throughout the world, which is required to enter certain areas, shut down security systems, open doors, and more.
TheWindfall’s Crate also contains a Training Stimulant, which can be used to unlock skills, and aFirst Aid kit, which will restore almost all of your Health gauge and cure various status effects.
