Avengers: Doomsdaygot an upgrade following Marvel Studio’s huge announcement. Many noticed that it has a new logo.
Avengers: Doomsdaywas officially announced at San Deigo Comic-Con (SDCC) in July 2024. During the presentation at the event, Marvel also unveiled its official logo, signifying the change of direction. Initially, the nextAvengersmovie was supposed to beAvengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, its titular character, Jonathan Majors, was embroiled in a legal battle and Marvel Studios decided to let him go. The incident prompted the studio to change its course and their new path led them toDoomsdaywith Robert Downey Jr., one of the first originalAvengersplaying Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, returning as Doctor Doom. Downey Jr.’s fan-favorite superhero character died inAvengers: Endgame(2019) by sacrificing himself to save the universe. Therecent announcement about the filmon Wednesday included a slightly redesigned logo, which fans seemingly disapproved of.
The original logo forAvengers: Doomsdayfeatures the word “Avengers” in bold and metallic lettering with a slightly worn texture. There are visible scratches on each letter. The letter “A” is prominent, keeping its traditional shape. Below is the word “Doomsday,” written in sharp, jagged green font. TheMarvel Studioslogo is visible in black and white hues at the top. It uses a combination of green, silver, black and white colors, giving that apocalyptic feel. The shadowy and textured font only reinforces its dark theme. Meanwhile, the redesigned logo incorporates a greenish tint around each letter, possibly hinting at Doctor Doom’s influence. The scratches on each letter in the old design were not visible anymore. It’s also noticeable that the “Doomsday” text is written using a new font with a glowing effect around the text to make it stand out even more. It retains the Marvel Studios logo above the text, but this time, it is in its colored version — white and red.
Avengers: Doomsday’s new logo raised eyebrows because most fans preferred the old one. They didn’t like the latest design, with some even saying it was a “downgrade” compared to the first one. Some joked that the second one appeared to be a design from a novice designer using Canva. Others said the new logo made them feelDoomsdayis a video game. For whatever reason, fans just didn’t like the updated version.
The old and newAvengers: Doomsdaylogos appear similar at a glance. However, if one examines it closely, the old one seems worn out because of the visible scratches, making it stand out. Its rough texture gives the impression of destruction or chaos. It also keeps the shade monotonous by only using black, silver, and white, except for green hues, which were not overpowering. It looks dull, but the emotions it conveys are far from that. On the other hand, the updated logo is more colorful — for instance, the Marvel Studios logo is in its usual red and white shades. Also, the word “Avengers” is outlined in luminous green, and the spaces between the letters in “Doomsday” are wider. The second one is cleaner, but the ragged first logo seems to tell more stories, which probably makes it appealing to most fans. However, people’s opinions about the logo are subjective. While many didn’t like it, a few may approve of it. So, to each their own.
