However, there is a catch. Not all side quests will wait around for you. Some require you to trigger certain events. Others can fail if you progress too far in the main storyline. Some quests can just be missed because they are located at the corners of the map. Below is a complete list of all side quests in Emerald Stair, arranged alphabetically for your convenience. You can complete them in any order to level up, earn gold, and obtain new items inAvowed.
Completionists looking to unlock the Pentiment achievement should note thatall side quests must be completed within the same playthrough. This can be a bit tricky because some side quests automatically fail or disappear after you trigger certain events or progress too far in the main quest.

A Relic From the Ashes
Luminous Alfons needs someone to retrieve the Reliquary of Saint Waidwen and find the thief who stole it from its shrine. Speak with him inside the Naku Tedek Grounds during the Ancient Soil main quest. If you find the reliquary without starting the quest, returning it to Alfons will still complete the side quest inAvowed.
Debt of Blood
Vemas Rogera wants revenge on a Steel Garrote captain for killing his young sentry. Offer your help to him at the Abandoned Farms in the north.
Debt of Blood only unlocks if you choose to burn down Fior mes Ivèrno during the Ancien Soil main quest.
Elder Offerings
Rossana Fallo needs someone to leave food for the dead as part of a ritual. Find her outside of Quilicci’s House in Fior mes Ivèrno to ease the angry spirits.
Elder Offerings automatically fails if not completed before the Ancient Soil main quest.
Food Theft
Sielo Piannini needs someone to track down the bandits who stole his harvest. Find him north of the Farmer’s Market in Maxim’s Claim and offer your help in retrieving his stolen harvest.
Mapping the Living Lands: Emerald Stair
If you find Geirmund’s remains in Dawnshore, the quest will automatically progress for you to find Fleccia’s remains in Emerald Stair. Check the bounty board in Fior mes Ivèrno.
Memory of the Deep
Josep Abaccio needs someone to investigate why his revenants are drawn to a nearby lake. Speak with him at the Coastal Farms, close to the Fior mes Ivèrno Docks, to start the side quest.
Missing Rangers
Lieutenant Fidelio is worried about Belenna and Adelarro, two of his rangers who have been missing for three days. Speak with him at the Bone & Boar in Fior mes Ivèrno and head out to find them. This quest can also be started by finding Belenna.
Nature vs. Nurture
Dolina and Masco Laima need someone to investigate the Xaurips destroying their animantic farming equipment. Find them north of the Farmer’s Market and offer your help by choosing “Maybe we can do something about this.”
Nature vs. Nurture automatically fails if not completed before the Ancient Soil main quest.
Scofflaw’s Vase
Yatzli needs someone to retrieve the Godless Vase from nearby ruins, but they must be cleared of all enemies first. Speak with her at Clifftop Sinkhole right after entering Emerald Stair from Dawnshore.
Scofflaw’s Vase automatically fails if not completed before speaking with Giatta and Quilicci in Giatta’s House during the Animancy Method main quest.
Steel Resolve
Captain Acierno believes there is a traitor among his ranks. Speak with him at the Ranger Headquarters east of Fior mes Ivèrno to find out more. This side quest can also be started by rescuing Ranger Verano from the Tranton bandits.
Steel Resolve automatically fails if not completed before the Ancient Soil main quest.
The Sinkhole Stroll
Head to Felipe’s Depression, a large sinkhole located west of the Farmer’s Market, to hear Old Felipe calling for help from the bottom. His cries of help will automatically start the side quest inAvowed.
Totem of Defiance
This side quest automatically starts after finding any of the seven Totem Fragments for The Schemer’s Offering.
