Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Editionhas one of the more unique armor systems in any of theXenogames and RPGs in general. Players can equip their chosen hero, or party member, with five different types of armor: Head, Torso, Left Arm, Right Arm, and Legs. The sleeve-based armor is unique on its own, but as soon as players acquire a new equipment type, that armor will automatically be registered into the Fashion Gear system.
It’s a way totransmogrify characters like in other RPGsandXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Editionallows players to customize their party even more. Beyond armor types and fashion, let’s help beginners out with some useful early armor to look out for all of which are randomized. It can be hard to replicate, but these are still worth highlighting for the attached abilities alone.
7Worn Combat Spex
A Good RPG Booster
The Worn Combat Spex is a helmet that resembles the color scheme of Unit-01 fromNeon Genesis Evangelion. The helmet itself has one of the better abilities that players can find on armor called EXP Boost 2. This will increase how muchEXP players can earn inXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Editionand for an RPG it can be quite the grind. The other attached ability, Stun: Decoy 2, is less exciting. If players get stunned, they can activate Decoy 1 which will help build evasion.
6Worn Combat Goggles
Naruto Called
The Worn Combat Goggles look more like a solid headband akin to the ones ninjas wear intheNarutoanime. It may look silly but the stats built around this headgear are not bad. The attached skill isn’t as amazing as boosting EXP but it can help in a pinch.
Taunt: Barrier 2 will prevent players from succumbing to Taunt which lessens focus by drawing Aggro. When players use Taunt, it’s to draw enemy attacks away from allies but it’s a bit more mysterious when enemies use it.
5Worn Combat Vest
Lin Would Approve
The Worn Combat Vest looks a lot like the starting armorLin wears, an early ally inXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. This basic shirt-like armor has two attached abilities. Danger Surge 2 has the potential of drawing the Soul Voice called HP Risk out which can heal allies when health is low. When Soul Voices are activated, players quickly have to time their button press with B on the Switch controller. Resist Physical Res Down 2 will make players less likely to receive debuffs that will lower defense which should be obvious by the name alone.
4Worn Combat Torse
Straight From Unit-01’s Body
The Worn Combat Torse is another part of the armor set if players want to transform their character into a mech fromNeon Genesis Evangelion. It’s less bulky than other sets of armor and this one in particular has two attached abilities. HP Rebound 2 gives players a random chance of regaining HP during battle and any way players can get helphealing inXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Editionis great. Resist Flinch 2 will quite literally help players resist succumbing to Flinch which can deactivate attacks. Both skills can be useful but the best part about this armor is the general stats.
3Worn Combat Glove L/R
A Unique Armor Piece For RPGs
In mostRPGs, body-based armorcomes in one full unit. InXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, armor is divided into the torso and then both arms can get coverage. The Worn Combat Gloves have a right and left version which gives players an armlet on each shoulder and a pair of gloves. Stats and abilities do stack, so mixing and matching is beneficial. For these two examples, there are three abilities to discuss. Vintage Attack Plus 2 will increase damage if attacking from above like if they use a gun-based weapon on a cliff and fire down on an enemy. Melee Attack Up 2 will increase the attack power of melee weapons like Longswords and Melee Draw Surge 2 will increase attack power shortly after drawing or switching weapons.
2Worn Combat Footwear
Can’t Knock Me Down
Even though “Footwear” is in the name of the Worn Combat Footwear, this is more than just a pair of protective shoes. These pants will match nicely with the Worn Combat Gloves color-wise if players care aboutstyle in RPGs.
Max TP Up 2 is the better of the two abilities which will increase how much TP players can bank during battle. TP can be used to revive characters in battle or for specific skills marked by TP on the skill bar. The other attached ability, Resist Topple 2, can prevent players from being knocked over.
1Worn Combat Soales
More TP The Better
Finally, the Worn Combat Soales are the pants that will complete theNeon Genesis Evangelionhomageensemble minus the sleeves. They also have Max TP Up 2 attached and again, all armor can have abilities stack. To elaborate further on TP, it costs 3,000 TP to revive an ally. If players can bank more than that then they can potentially revive multiple allies. It’s honestly the best thing players can do with TP inXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, so it’s best to not even bother equipping TP-based skills unless their armor set has massive amounts of TP-boosting abilities.
