Most aspects of the gear system are unlocked right away inMonster Hunter Wildsor at least as soon as players touch down at the home base. They can choose from fourteen different weapons and aren’t locked into a decision, unlike class systems in other RPGs. They can equip armor for the head, body, waist, hands, and feet, too.
The one piece of gear that is locked away until Chapter Two is Talismans. They will unlock once players reach the Oilwell Basin and continue with the story inMonster Hunter Wilds. These accessories will grant players with a singular skill, and these are the ones players should craft once the system unlocks.
6Defense Charm 1
Defense Boost: Raises Defense +5
The Defense Charm 1 is a very basic Talisman with the Defense Boost skill attached. It will raise the Defense stat by five points and that is it. As simple as the skill and accessory are, the overall Defense of a character is important whether players are going intoMonster Hunter Wildssoloor with a party.
It’s a common mechanic RPG fans are used to at this point from action RPGs like this to more old-school turn-based games. There is one other defensive Talismans worth mentioning: Blessing Charm 1. It has the Divine Blessing skill attached which can randomly reduce damage by 15% but since it’s not a guarantee, the Defense Charm 1 accessory is better.
5Elemental Charms
Reduce Damage From The Five Elements
There are five elements in the game including Dragon, Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Water. Dragon may sound like a weird element but that just means basic damage taken from dragon-like monsters including Rey Dau. It will be the first dragon-like monster players will face who is like a Thunder-based version of Rathalos, one of theall-time classics inMonster Hunter.
Dragon Charm 1 could help reduce damage from Rey Dau, however, since its Thunder-based attacks are more lethal, Thunder Charm 1 would be even better. Getting away from Rey Dau, Quematrice is another early encounter. This giant bird can shoot fire, so Fire Charm 1 would work best against it. It’s hard to know what elemental Talisman to equip before a fight in the story since monsters are a mystery, but players can be better prepared for repeat fights.
4Status Effect Charms
Prevent Or Reduce Infections
Monster Hunter Wildsis anRPG and status effectscome with the territory. For example, a monster like the big pink ape Congalala, can poison players with its toxic breath and butt. Poison Charm 1 will not prevent poison from infecting players with the attached Poison Resistance skill. Instead, it will reduce damage taken, making the ailment go away quicker.
Another wicked monster with a lethal butt is Lala Barina. This giant spider can turn its abdomen, or butt, into a giant rose and shoot petals that can paralyze players. That’s where Paralysis Charm 1 comes into play as it can reduce the effect with the Paralysis Resistance skill. Overall, a Talisman can never replace an item when it comes to curing status ailments but it’s never a bad idea to be over-prepared for a fight.
3Charms For Explorers
Gain More From Gather Points
It’s fun to fight monsters and challenge oneself in epic fights, but it’s just as important to explore the various environments in the game. There are a few Talismans that can help with gathering materials while exploring. For example, Botany Charm 1 has the Botany skill attached which will give players one extra herb-type item from gathering points.
Normal Herbs can make potions while Fire Herbs can make more devious things like explosives. There is also the Geology Charm 1 with the Geologist skill attached which can add more bones gathered from piles. Finally, a somewhat related Talisman, Maintenance Charm 1, has the Tool Specialist skill which can reduce cooldowns when using tools. This can technically include using the net orfishing inMonster Hunter Wilds.
2Healing With Charms
Recover HP With Ease
Where would a goodRPG be without a good way to heal? Potions and Mega Potions will be the main source of healing for players and Recovery Charm 1 can increase their potency via the attached Recovery Up skill. Speed Heal Charm 1 and its Recovery Speed skill will speed up recoverable damage which may be hard to explain.
Not all damage in the game is set if players do not know that. Sometimes part of the bar can recover from an attack but it is a gamble. What isn’t a gamble is the Extension Charm 1 and the Item Prolonger skill. This technically won’t heal players but it can increase the effects of special items. For example,Armorskincan temporarily boost Defense.
1Charms For Foodies
Make Food And Bugs Bend To Your Whim
It’s always advised tocook a meal before going out on a mission inMonster Hunter Wilds. However, sometimes players will forget and need to eat on the go. That’s where the Glutton’s Charm 1 comes in handy as it has the Speed Eating attached, making it quicker to eat meat and rations on the go.
Another reason why players should eat a meal or grab a bite is that it can prevent hunger. Hungry players will have their stamina drop quicker and if players don’t like the concept of eating at all then they should at least equip the Hungerless Charm 1. It has Hunger Resistance which will stop stamina from depleting about half as much. Not eating can make the game more challenging and perhaps that’s exactly what some players want.
