If you’re setting up cabins for Visitors, then one of Tuxedosam’s Companion Abilities will come in handy. Tuxedsam accepts gifts from three separate categories, but if you’re trying to level him up as soon as possible inIsland Adventure, you’ll want to give him gifts with a 2-heart or 3-heart rating.

What Can You Give Tuxedosam?
Tuxedosam likes gifts with theTropical, Fancy, andClothtags. You can check the tags of items by selecting thei/info icon(+button on Nintendo Switch) that appearswhen you hover over a giftin the menu. As you explore the island and raise friendship with the characters, you’ll begin unlocking more crafting plans. With these, you can create higher-quality (3-heart) gifts.
If you’rejust startingIsland Adventure, you won’t have access to the crafting plans for Tuxedosam’s 2-heart and 3-heart gifts. As such, you should give him items that you find in Seaside Resort, like Pineapple and Thread.
The best gifts to give Tuxedosam are theDesigner Island Doll,Tropical Gift,Beignets with Pineapple Dip, andTropical Material. The Beignets recipe you can unlock by cookingwith the required ingredients. However, you’ll need the crafting plans for the other three. Here’s how to get them:
The Tropical Material is a good “beginner” gift to give to Tuxedosam until you unlock the Designer Island Doll or the Rainbow Reef area.Rainbow Reef has materialsthat you need to craft the Gift Box, which is used to make the Tropical Gift.

Tuxedosam Friendship Levels
Tuxedosam Companion Ability
As you level up Tuxedosam’s friendship, you’ll unlock color palettes for your character, new quests, and Tuxedosam’s Companion Abilities. Tuxedosam’s max friendship islevel 15, so he should be quicker to max out compared to characters witha friendship level cap of 20.
Companion Abilities are skills that trigger when you’re traveling with a friend. In this case, Tuxedosam has the Fashionista and Negotiator Ability. You’ll unlock higher levels of Fashionista as your friendship grows, but Negotiator can’t be upgraded.
The only outfit with powers is the Mermaid Outfit.
