As easy asMonster Hunter Wildsis to get into compared to other entries in the series, it’s still all kinds of complicated. There are tons of monsters to fight, each with materials used to craft armor andweapons inMonster Hunter Wilds. There are also a lot of items to find while exploring the world, many of which can be used to craft disposable items.
What items are and are not useful is a whole other mess to contend with inMonster Hunter Wildsbut that’s where these tips come into play. Let’s boil things down to the essentials at least for the early hours of the game.
6Armorskin
Boosts Defense Temporarily
TheArmorskincan be crafted with a Catalyst and Adamant Seeds which are easily found in the world as are most crafting ingredients. It will raise the defense of the player temporarily and some abilities can extend this time. For example, Item Prolonger will make item effects last 10% longer.
Item Prolonger is attached to armor made from the Chatacabra which looks like a frog and is the first hunt players will go on in the game. Armor abilities aside, there is another defense-based item,Hardshell Powder, which will do the same thing as Armorskin except that it can be dispersed in an area for all to enjoy. It’s a good version to deploy for a party inMonster Hunters Wildsbut for solo players, Armorskin will be good enough.
5Demondrug
Boosts Attack Power Temporarily
The Demondrug also needs a Catalyst to be crafted along with a common Might Seed. It will boost attack power temporarily. The best way to boost stats is by cooking inMonster Hunter Wilds.
If players forget to cook before a mission or they want an extra boost, taking a vial of Demondrug is good too. This even works for ranged weapons likebows inMonster Hunter Wildsand not just melee-focused blades. These monsters can take a lot of hits so every little power boost helps.
4Energy Drink
Boosts Stamina Temporarily
TheEnergy Drinkcan be crafted with a little bit of Nitroshooms and Honey mixed together. Like in real life, honey is the miracle food that binds so many delicious things together. The Energy Drink will boost stamina temporarily along with healing a portion of depleted stamina.
The bigger theweapon, the more stamina it will drain inMonster Hunter Wildslike the Great Sword or Hammer. The Energy Drink is supposed to fight sleep too although if players are asleep then they can’t use the item. It sounds like a Catch-22 although it’s probably just a perplexing joke that will leave many scratching their heads.
3Herbal Medicine
Cure Poison And Heal HP
Antidotes typically cure thepoison status effect in RPGs and that’s true inMonster Hunter Wildstoo. It’s good but not as good as the Herbal Medicine which will heal some HP along with curing poison. To craft it, players need an Antidote and some Blue Mushrooms which are plentiful in most areas of the game.
Players may also want to consider getting some Herbal Powder which is another area-affecting item. For monsters that poison the party, either item will be good to have on hand. Poison is one of the trickier status effects in games that can drain life and HP is precious in heated bouts inMonster Hunter Wilds.
2Mega Potion
Heal HP
Items that can boost stats are great but at the end of the day, there is one type of item that is more important than others inan RPG: HP heals. Players will begin with Potions crafted from Herbs which are good to carry around from the beginning of the game to the end. However, Mega Potions can heal more and they only require Potions and Honey to craft.
Lifepowder is also a good HP-based healing item for generating good health among the party. Players can’t craft Max Potions easily in the early hours of the game but they can gain them from pick-ups, rewards, or shops. They will temporarily raise the HP bar like most home-cooked meals, so they’re not a bad item to have around as a backup to Mega Potions.
1Shock Trap
Be Like Ash Ketchum And Catch Monsters
There are two ways to defeat monsters and complete missions in the game. Most players will do the usualslay method inMonster Hunter Wildswhich has them deplete their HP. It’s standard and then players can loot the carcass for parts to then craft armor and weapons. There is another method though via traps and trapped monsters will net players with even better material rewards.
For starters, players need to craft a Shock Trap by combining a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor. Deploy the Shock Trap when a monster looks like they are about to die. It will be stunned in place but then players will need to put it to sleep with a Tranq Bomb, crafted from Sleep Herbs and Parashrooms. If all goes right, players can pretend they are Ash Ketchum from thePokemonseries because they just caught themselves a monster.
