Summary

Enter the world ofFragPunk, a 5v5 free-to-play hero shooter where players make the rules. In this action-packed game, players can dive into a wide variety of modes, with the primary one being Shard Clash, where teams take turnsattacking and defending two sites. Everyone is bringing their A-game inFragPunk, so players must ensure they’re well-equipped to take on the competition.

Whilethe Shard Card system inFragPunkmay be a little confusing for some, one thing players may get the hang of relatively quickly is the game’s Lancers—characters that each have unique abilities. While the Lancer that players ultimately go with comes down to personal preference, some are definitely better than others in certain scenarios. Here arethe best Lancers inFragPunk, ranked.

Fade Away

Get Back

Cycle between full invisibility and semi-invisibility for a short duration. Only melee weapons can be used when active. Deactivates when attacked or when firearms are equipped.

Create a field where Zephyr can be completely invisible using Midnight Rambler, along with making the cloaking period unlimited. Midnight Rambler can be temporarily disrupted when attacked.

Fragpunk Axon

Deploy a knife beacon. When the skill is activated again, Zephyr will teleport to the knife’s location.

Zephyris somewhat of a niche pick when it comes toFragPunk’sroster of Lancers, as her appeal mainly comes from her two main stealth abilities, each of which can grant players some free kills against opponents who are not paying attention. The first of these skills is Midnight Rambler, which allows players tocycle between being completely invisible and semi-invisiblefor a short duration. While players are only equipped with a knife during this time, it’s an excellent skill to use for sneaking around the map to take down enemies.

FragPunk Shard Cards

When paired with Fade Away, players can alsocreate a zone where they are completely invisiblewhile using Midnight Rambler—excellent for creating an ambush during the start or later stages of the round. However, it’s worth noting that these abilities do not make Zephyr immune to particular skills that reveal players, such as Hollowpoint’s Paparazzi, Jaguar’s I Can See For Miles, and Sonar’s Echolocation—making Zephyr pretty easy to counter. Her footsteps can also give away her position when invisible, another factor that can ruin a potential ambush.

Mr. PewPew

Deploy a tactical-combat drone that can be controlled remotely.

Place a wall of shields made up of three pieces of cover.

Throw a sentry turret that fires automatically.

When it comes to attacking in Shard Clash,Nitrois not particularly the greatest Lancer available. While her Chug Chug drone can be great for scouting out sites, and her Mr. PewPew automated turrets can be thrown into enemy sites to chip away at their health, where Nitro truly shines is in her ability to fortify sites when placed on the defense team. Both hersecondary abilities play a crucial role in fortification, making her a great asset for beefing up each site’s defenses.

This is most prevalent in her Mr. PewPew automated turrets, as mentioned previously, which work well when placed at the entrances of a site or within the lanes leading up to each one. Not only do theypassively deal damage to enemieswithin range, but they also serve as anexcellent early warning systemfor incoming enemies. Her other ability, The Wall, is equally great for fortification, providing players with useful coverin situations where cover is lacking or blocking doorways when stacked on top of each other.

FragPunk Plant Card

Gold Dust Woman

Dilemma

Conceals Serket and deploys a controllable beacon. Within a limited time, she can teleport to the beacon’s location. Enemies in range will take the form of sandstorms.

Release a slow-moving dust tornado that slows down enemies within range.

FragPunk Death’s Embrace

Throw a gadget that drags enemies into it when within range.

Following Nitro isSerket, a rather flexible Lancer when it comes to her array of skills, each making her a decent attacker and defender to have in a team’s ranks. Where Serket shines the most is her Station to Station ability, which allows players to survey the battlefield via a beacon undetected and teleport to that beacon’s location. This ability is most effective when players deploy it torapidly reposition across the battlefield, either to teleport behind enemies for a flank or to quickly disengage after taking a hit. This alone makes her tricky to deal with, but that’s not all.

FragPunk

Serket’s Dilemma gadget is equally powerful, essentially acting as avortex that pulls players in and holds them in place. While it is relatively easy to spot, throwing it onto a group of players can be a great play, as well as an effective tactic for shutting off flank routes or entry points to the A or B Site. Gold Dust Woman is arguably the weakest and least practical of Serket’s abilities, primarily serving as rolling cover while also allowing players to freeze it in place if they wish to conceal their position. However, she is an excellent option to choose despite this.

Smoke Screen

Paparazzi

A single-shot railgun. Deals increased damage when fully charged whilst aiming down sights. Also capable of revealing enemy positions.

A forward-moving smokescreen. Highlights enemies caught in it.

A trap that automatically attaches to nearby players to reveal them.

Next up isHollowpoint, a Lancer whose primary skill revolves around her special weapon. Players using Hollowpoint canwield her railgun, Meteora—a powerful weapon designed for long-range engagements. While its base damage is already high, when fully charged while aiming down sights (ADS), it has thepotential to eliminate enemies with a single shot, especially with a well-placed headshot. On top of that, the weapon replenishes its ammunition over time, making it a formidable heavy-hitting option.

fragpunk

Beyond excelling at high-damage output, Hollowpoint alsospecializes in enemy detectionin two distinct ways. The first is through Paparazzi, which works effectively when placed near flank routes or at the A or B site, revealing enemy positions when they pass nearby. The second is her Smoke Screen, which can be great when used as rolling cover for long sightlines, allowing players and their teammates to push forward while being largely invisible.

Sonic Surge

Sound of Silence

Deploy a device that periodically reveals surrounding enemies when they move.

Launch a sonic wave that reveals enemies it hits. Releases a delayed blast that knocks players back, dazes, and further exposes enemies. Hold the skill key to charge and launch Sonic Surge further.

fragpunk-header-2

Dampen Sonar’s footsteps and surrounding allies. Grants immunity to enemy Echolocation Scans.

Next up isSonar, a character who fills a similar role to Hollowpoint but without the ability to deal any real damage with her skills. While Hollowpoint is adept at revealing the locations of enemies, Sonar arguably does it better through her Echolocation skill, which covers a wide area andperiodically reveals enemies within its range when they are moving. While generally excellent when placed on sites for defense, Echolocation can also be useful for scanning key areas on attack, essentially detecting any moving enemies near an objective before breaching.

Sonar’s most powerful ability, however, may just be Sound of Silence. When activated, this abilitydampens the footsteps of Sonar and surrounding teammateswhile also granting immunity to Echolocation scans. With how loud footsteps tend to be inFragPunk, reducing their volume is a game-changer for both attacking and defending, as it conceals the positions of Sonar and her teammates. While her Sonic Surge ability is not nearly as practical as her other two skills, Sonar currently serves asone of the best Lancers for those looking to gain intelon the enemy team.

Electric Avenue

I Can See For Miles

Deploy an electric trap that slows down enemies and deals damage within its range.

Summon an electric cage around enemies in front of Jaguar, blocking their vision.

Displays the number of enemies ahead, and detects enemies low on health or who are affected by Jaguar’s skills. Also boosts Jaguar’s movement speed.

Up next isJaguar, a rather underrated pick that can absolutely shift the tide in battle in quite a few scenarios. Jaguar is all about trapping and hunting down the opposition, and he can do this in a variety of ways. The first and most obvious is his Electric Avenue ability, which serves as an electrical cage that blocks the enemy’s vision. On its own, the ability is not all that powerful, but if players pair it with the I Can See For Miles ability, they essentiallyhave a one-way mirror that can grant them an easy elimination.

Jaguar also comes with apowerful electric trap, Live Wire, which functions similarly to Corona’s Ashes to Ashes, only this time simultaneously slowing down enemies while dealing damage in its zone—making it much deadlier. Jaguar’s I Can See For Miles ability toreveal enemies low on health is also greatfor quickly chasing down retreating enemies, as well as keeping tabs on Zephyr, who can be pretty deadly without any form of revealing her.

Smokestack Lightning

Cherry Bomb

A rocket launcher that deals explosive damage and knocking back enemies at certain ranges.

A throwable gadget that generates a wall of smoke in the direction it is thrown.

A throwable device that generates several energy bombs, which are armed when enemies approach it.

Brokerwill likely be the Lancer that most beginners gravitate towards when first diving intoFragPunk, as he is generally easy to learn and one of the Lancers available from the start. Regarding skills, Broker is a mixed bag, boasting one skill primarily for offense, another for defense, and one that helps provide cover for his team. The main draw for Broker is his signature skill, Goddard’s Vengeance—a shoulder-fired launcherthat can decimate players with a single shot while also dealing immense damage to those caught within the splash zone.

With two total uses per life, Goddard’s Vengeance is fairly forgiving for players who want a bit of insurance in gunfights.Broker’s Cherry Bomb is also a great skillfor defending objectives and cutting off key flank routes. However, it isn’t very often that players fall victim to Cherry Bombs themselves, as they are fairly easy to spot. That said, they can still leave enemies exposed or distracted as they attempt to neutralize each bomb.

Ashes to Ashes

Hothead

Dash forward a short distance. The distance is reduced when moving vertically.

Throw a device that activates a warzone which deals minor damage overtime to enemies in its zone. Also Grants Corona with damage reduction and a speed boost when within the zone.

After a short charge, blinds all enemies directly looking at Corona.

When it comes to difficult Lancers to deal with,Coronais definitely among the trickiest, with his arsenal of skills excelling at throwing off the opposition. His first main ability is purely focused on movement, something that many other Lancers ignore entirely. Fast Lane has theunique ability to allow Corona to dash forward, which can be great when used to quickly engage or disengage from gunfights. When pointed upwards, Fast Lane also acts as a vertical leap, allowing players to reach certain elevated positions for some neat plays.

Ashes to Ashes is another ability that Corona possesses, essentiallyacting as an AOE attack that deals minor chip damagein its field. This can be great for weakening multiple opponents grouped together or shutting off certain lanes that enemies may be using to either attack or defend objectives. The final ability is probably the most beneficial, however. Hothead allows Corona toblind all enemies looking at him after a short charge. This ability is great for breaching sites swarming with enemies, or simply adding some assurance to winning a 1v1 by blinding the opposition.

Killer Queen

Chemical Romance (Passive)

Throw a biomedical device creating a healing field. Restores health to allies within its zone.

Deploy a destructible wall on the ground or in a doorway.

Throw a trap that is triggered or activated manually. Lancers in its range take damage over time.

Pathojen is immune to poison damage.

Out of all the Lancers on this list,Pathojenmay be the most essential Lancer that teams can benefit from having. This is mainly thanks to her Emotional Rescue skill, an AOE ability capable ofhealing not only Pathojen herself but also her teammates.Whileplayers can rely on Medkits for healing, along with certain Shard Cards, each of these healing effects forces players to rely on RNG. With Pathojen on their team, however, players have access to guaranteed healing, which can be great for saving team members from sticky situations.

Pathojen is not just a healer, however, as she also boasts two neat skills that shine in area denial. The first is Shroom Wall, which works wonders in creating usable cover while also blocking off doorways that enemies can use for flanking or gaining access to objective points. The second and more flexible ability is Killer Queen, a poison trap that can chip away at enemies' health when triggered, making it easier to take down opponents who happen to pass by it.

Sticky Fingers

Super Freak

A guitar shotgun with twelve total uses. Each kill restores two additional uses. When players press the aim key, they can throw two Sticky Fingers bombs. Axon can also slide while using it.

Sticky grenades that bounce off surfaces until they stick to Lancers, or detonate when their fuse expires. Holding down the skill key will allow Axon to continue throwing.

Axon becomes immune to blinding effects when activated.

If players are looking for an all-out fragger, thenAxonis the ideal Lancer. Axon has two main skills that players can use to hunt down other Lancers with great effect, making him a strong contender on the battlefield. The first is hisElectric Guitar, a weaponthat functions much like a powerful shotgun, boasting twelve total shots. The weapon is exceptionally strong at close range, and players who secure eliminations with it will acquire two additional uses, meaning they can potentially wield it for most of the game if they rack up enough kills.

The Electric Guitar alsoallows Axon to slidewhile using it by holding the crouch button while sprinting. This skill is great for rapidly sliding around corners to catch opponents off guard, something the opposition may not expect. Axon’s Sticky Fingers explosives are equally deadly, especially when spammed at contested site locations. Lastly, hisSuper Freak ability works as a direct counter to Lancers like Corona, and can be used to outright remove blinding effects or simply prevent them from affecting the player.
