MLB The Show 25can deliver some exciting and challenging moments when playing as a shortstop, but not every team will be the best pick going into the draft. Going to a team that already has a strong shortstop will only make your path out of the minor leagues longer in Road to the Show.
At the same time, some teams in need of a shortstop just don’t have the surrounding cast for you to compete early on in RTTS. If you don’t want the unpredictability of letting the draft pick your landing spot Road to the Show, it’s better to choose one of the best teams for a shortstop inMLB The Show 25.
Right Fielder
Ronald Acuna Jr. - 93 OVR
The best team to join as a shortstop inMLB The Show 25is the Atlanta Braves.Despite being the second-best team in the league, the Braves are in the bottom five teams when it comes to shortstop ratings. They have80+ OVR rated players at almost every other position, and that gives you an extremely strong supporting cast that could reliably make the playoffs.
With yourstrongest competition having just a 70 OVR rating, playing consistently well inRoad to the Showmight get you called up to the majors after just a year or two. The one risk with this option would be the Braves acquiring a better shortstop while you’re working in the minor leagues, and in that case, you might want to ask your agent about being traded.
Corbin Carroll - 85 OVR
If you don’t mind waiting a little longer to make the majors, a reallysolid all-around choice for shortstops in RTTS is the Arizona Diamondbacks. In addition to being one of the top ten overall teams in the league, they’ve got a very well-rounded roster inMLB The Show 25.
Having a higher-rated target to replace once you reach the majors will likely give youmore time to develop and improve your player against less challenging competition in the minor leagues. This could also give you time to work on upgrading perks as well as your own ratings before taking on major league opponents. The Diamondbacks have a solid enough roster that they should remain contenders in the coming years, and your shortstop could be a big part of that after developing them inRoad to the Show.
Sal Frelick - 73 OVR
If you want your shortstop to get called up to the majors as quickly as possible in Road to the Show, choose the Milwaukee Brewers.Despite being dead last in shortstop ratings, the Brewers are the fastest team inMLB The Show 25and will surround you with quality defensive players.
With their best shortstop sitting at just a 64 OVR rating, you might be able to pass that and go right to the majors in your rookie season. If that’s the goal, spend all your early tokens on attribute upgrades instead of perks. Improving attributes will boost your overall rating quicker, and you’ll still be able to upgrade perks after you’ve powered your way into the major leagues.
Victor Robles - 74 OVR
Another great option for shortstops in Road to the Show is the Seattle Mariners, and you’ll have the benefit of covering the field forthe second best pitching core inMLB The Show 25. They’re just shy of being among the top ten teams in the league, but the Mariners need some help on defense.
With the best Mariners shortstop at 73 OVR,it will take a little longer to hit the majors compared to some other options listed here. That gives you extra time to upgrade your player while working against minor league competition. If you get called up and have a higher rating than every other infield player, it could present more challenging fielding opportunities in RTTS.
Jhonkensy Noel - 75 OVR
The Cleveland Guardians werea top landing spot at shortstopinMLB The Show 24, and that’s a hole in their roster that has yet to be filled. The Guardians have areliable pitching core, solid overall defense, and the fourth-worst starting shortstop inMLB The Show 25.
With the right upgrades, you’ve got a good chance of gettingcalled up within the first few Road to the Show seasons. With five-time Silver Slugger Award winner Jose Ramirez in the lineup, a shortstop that can hit might be enough to take them to the postseason inMLB The Show 25.
