Summary
Mullet MadJacktakes the concept of overstimulation and turns it into a video game. Players assume control of the titular protagonist as he wades through robo-billionaires to save an internet star. Everything the player sees is streamed to a live audience that is hooked up to Jack’s blood stream, injecting his body with dopamine every time he kills something. If he doesn’t, his 10 seconds of life ticks down, killing him at zero.
Built around arcade FPS gameplay, Jack makes use ofan arsenal of weaponsin his pursuit of constant stimulation. Each comes with their own unique play style and line of upgrades that only make them even more deadly. For those looking for big dopamine hits, here are thebest weapons inMullet MadJack.
8Handgun
Dumb But Useful
HAMMER95 have taken a page ofDead Space’s book with theHandgun. The weapon, unlocked after beating the game, is quite literally just a hand gun. While likely only included asa neat spoof reward for players, the weapon does come with a kick. Dealing a bit more damage than the Pistol, the Handgun can be viably used to complete aMullet MadJackplayer’s run.
Its long-to mid-range capabilities make it quite versatile, too, but like otheraccuracy-based weapons inMullet MadJack, lining up a shot can slow players down, losing them precious time.
7SMG
High Fire Rate And High Recoil
TheSMG’shigh fire rate makes it one ofMullet MadJack’smost satisfying weapons to use, allowing players to quickly spray and pray through rooms. Despite the speed at which a player can dispatch an enemy with it, the SMG does come with a couple of downsides.
Its high rate of fire means players will be reloading more often, something that is more crucial here than other shooters because of the time mechanics at play. It also comes with a lot of recoil. Players looking to use the SMG should ensure that they’re grabbing upgrades that affect reload times whenever they show up at the end of a level.
6Rifle
The All-Rounder
TheRifleacts asMullet MadJack’s all-rounder weapon. The gun dishes out decent damage and controls relatively well. However, it is let down somewhat by a fire rate that feels slow when compared to other weapons like the SMG or the Plasma Gun.
The weapon’s upgrades alleviate this somewhat by increasing its rate of fire with a mini-gun attachment and, at its third level, a grenade launcher that will shoot periodically while players blast through a level.
The Rifle is unlocked after ‘unboxing’ the game from the main menu.
5Shotgun
Forget All About Aiming
TheShotgun’s lever-action handlingmay take a little bit to get used to, as players have to wait for Jack to cock the weapon between each shot. In a game where every second counts, this weapon may seem a little redundant at first.
However, the Shotgun completely removes the need for a player to aim. As long as they’re pointing in the general direction of an enemy, a player is likely to kill something. Once players get used to the lever-action shooting, they’ll be able to wipe out floors with ease.
4Pistol
Infinite Ammo
Being the game’s starting weapon, thePistolwould have ranked lower among thebest weapons inMullet MadJackif it weren’t for its level three upgrade. Without it, the gun functions how players would expect: dealing a fair amount of damage with fire rate dependent on the player’s clicks.
The upgrade, however, adds an infinite bullet belt to the gun. This ridiculous additionremoves the need to reload, allowing the player to be as trigger-happy as they like. There being no need to stop and reload means that players can also afford to be less accurate, saving them time by not having to properly line up shots.
3Railgun
High Damage
On the surface, theRailgunseems like the antithesis ofMullet MadJack’s core gameplay experience. The gun fires a concentrated beam of energy that requires a cooldown between each shot, feeling slower than the lever action handling of the Shotgun.
Yet the Railgun makes up for this with its extremely high amount of damage, being capable of one-shotting most enemies in the game. Players looking to use the Railgun will have to spend some time getting used to its slower fire-rate, but it’s worth it for the damage output.
2Plasma Gun
Assault Rifle 2.0
ThePlasma Gunis a juiced-up version of the Rifle, acting as a sort of combination of it and the SMG. The Plasma Gun sacrifices some of the accuracy of its counterpart in exchange for a higher rate of fire.
This change makes the Plasma Gun feel like the ultimate robo-shredder, dispatching enemies with ease at most distances. Similarly to the Pistol’s third upgrade, players can unlock an infinite ammo version of the weapon, creating the potential for one to make it through a level with a simple click.
1Katanas
Hack And Slash
TheKatanais definitely the most skill-based weaponinMullet MadJack. It cripples the player’s ranged capabilities, forcing them to cross rooms even faster to get up close and personal with enemies. Despite that, the weapon is still one of the most satisfying and rewarding to use in the game.
It comes in two variants: the Ice Katana that freezes enemies and the Fire Katana that allows players to make charged fire attacks. On top of these variations, the Katana acts like Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir; it can be thrown at enemies before returning to the player. This ability can be upgraded to reduce the time in which it takes the Katana to fly back to the player, making up for its lack of range. With the Katana’s attacks being capable of one-shotting - or one-slashing - enemies, it’s worth putting in the time to get used to the weapon’s unique play style.
