Summary
WhileDaredevil: Born Again’s return to the airwaves and first official entry into the MCU has gone rather well, there is at least one villain that’s been long teased that hasn’t popped up in the show in any real way yet. For fans fearing that he’s going to be underused in this season ofDaredevil: Born Again, the showrunner has made it clear that’s not the case.
Through it’s first four episodes,Daredevil: Born Againhas been far more about the inner workings of law and order. Matt Murdock has put away his cowl and costume for a suit and briefcase.Wilson Fisk is trying to throwhimself into his work as mayor of New York, even if his criminal background is still very much at the forefront. But the end of Episode 4 did tease that a villain that’s been whispered about and shown in dribs and drabs since before the series aired on Disney+. In the next few episodes, it seems likely that Muse will pop up more as the season goes on but the person in charge of the show has now come out and made sure fans now that it’s not even about Season 1.
Showrunner
Dario Scardapane
When Muse does finally go head-to-head with Daredevil or Matt Murdock, it won’t be a one-off.Daredevil: Born Againshowrunner Dario Scardapane recently talked toTV Lineand confirmed thatnot only does Muse have a rolein the next episode or episodes but the character will have a role “beyond” Season 1.
“I call Muse a stressor in this story, in that in the battle between Fisk and Matt Murdock, Muse causes a ripple effect. He causes trouble for Fisk. He causes trouble for Matt Murdock. The Muse run, for lack of a better word, in this story has pretty shocking consequences. And those consequences don’t end.”
There have been hints beforeScardapane confirmed Musebeing in Season 2. There were even set photos that showed the character would be part of the next installment. What the showrunner confirmed is that even when the villain isn’t on screen, his impact will be felt by both the show’s hero and the man who is used to going unchallenged for his crown as the Kingpin of Crime. There might even eventually be a kind of teammup for Murdock and Fisk as they do battle with someone who isdraining his victims of bloodand using that blood to create his art.
About Muse
Muse showed his face inDaredevil: Born Againepisode four, but the comments from Scardapane and director David Boyd make it clear viewers are about to see a bigger role for the offbeat killer. Even if he doesn’t appear on screen in every episode moving forward, he’s going to be someone that poses a serious problem to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen and the people of New York City.
