Demon Slayer’s primary antagonist, Muzan Kibutsuji, is driven by the desire for immortality and world domination. In his pursuit of invincibility, he has created an organization known as the Twelve Kizuki, consisting of the most powerful demons in existence. Although the Twelve Kizuki are powerful, they are far from invincible, so when someone dies, Muzan has to look for a replacement.
In the Swordsmith Village arc, Tanjiro and his friends kill Hantengu, which creates a power vacuum. Realizing the importance of the Upper-Rank Four position, Kibutsuji chooses Nakime as Hantengu’s replacement. But why does Muzan select her for such an important position? Nakime, being a high-level demon, is exceptionally adept at using blood demon art. Her supernatural abilities give her access to an extradimensional space known as the Infinity Castle. As the name suggests, the alternate dimension gives the illusion that it is infinite. Nakime uses her biwa to manipulate the space as she deems fit, making it extremely hard to get a hold of her once an individual is stuck there.
What makes Infinity Castle truly frightening is the accuracy with which Nakime can manifest countless rooms and other spaces. Anyone who is trapped inside is at her mercy and statistically unlikely to make it back alive unless they are a Hashira or someone with comparable powers. Another bizarre and terrifying aspect of Nakime’s blood demon art is her ability to teleport anyone in or out of the Infinity Castle instantaneously.Following Gyutaro and Daki’s death, she summons the Upper-Rank demons to the castle at Muzan’s behest.
Akaza has a look of surprise on his face when he realizes that he is in the Infinity Castle, meaning Nakime can teleport individuals far stronger than her to Kibutsuji’s lair. With her accurate control of the extradimensional space, the new Upper-Rank Four can also attack her rivals once they are cornered. She uses her teleportation skills and the structural design of the castle to crush her enemies.
Perhaps the mostfrustrating aspect of Nakime’s blood demon artis its inherent elusiveness. She can use her abilities to force demon slayers to keep running in circles while remaining virtually untouchable. While Nakime’s powers may not be as deadly as the ones used by her Upper-Rank peers, she is still a cunning high-level demon who can push her adversaries to the point of exhaustion before finishing them off.

Fighting her can be like drowning, as one can sense the inherent danger of the situation but feels helpless knowing that they will soon hit their breaking point, after which the new Upper-Rank Four will go for the kill. It shouldcome as no surprise that Kibutsujieven uses the Infinity Castle as his lair and trusts Nakime enough to bring demon slayers there for the final war.

Nakime’s blood demon art is a dangerous toolthat she employs quite effectively for offensive and defensive purposes. But one must not make the mistake of thinking that’s all she has to offer. There is a reason Muzan trusts Nakime so much. She is not only extremely loyal to him but has unique powers that set her apart from other high-level demons.

Among the many innate abilities that she can use, manipulating her eyeball familiars as a tool for surveillance and gathering intelligence is perhaps the most eerie and effective.During the Hashira Training arc, Muzan is desperate to track down Nezuko Kamado and Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Nakime uses her eyeball familiars to surreptitiously infiltrate the Demon Slayer Corps' training premises and eventually finds the location of the Ubuyashiki household. This was a great achievement for Kibutsuji, as he had been searching for his arch-enemy for years.
Nakime may look distracted and lost in her world, but she is gifted with surprisingly fast reflexes that help her evade attacks even by top-ranking demon slayers. She usually uses her biwa tomanipulate space in the Infinity Castleinstead of moving around, but when the situation demands, the new Upper-Rank Four can move at blinding speeds that may surprise her adversaries.
Nakime’s blood demon art is special, but what makes it extremely scary is the fact that she senses every change inside the extradimensional space, making it almost impossible to hide something from her. The new Upper-Rank Four may not be as strong as Hantengu, but underestimating her can be a fatal mistake. She is Muzan’s most trusted ally for a reason, andit makes sense that she succeeded Hantengu.
