As a live-service title,Destiny 2has a number of major seasonal eventsthat come around during limited windows, offering players a chance to take part in a unique activity while earning special themed rewards as well. Guardian Games has beenDestiny 2’s spring event for a few years now, pitting the three player classes against one another to see who can earn and bank the most medals during a limited time. With March finally here, Bungie has finally revealed all of the new details for the 2025 version of Guardian Games.
Thecore mechanic ofDestiny 2’s Guardian Gamesremains in place, tasking all players with earning medallions through activities which can be banked at the Tower Podium. However, for this year’s event, Guardian Games Nightfalls and Focused Activities are not coming back. Instead,Destiny 2is introducing a new game mode called Rushdown, which is a gauntlet of five boss battles that become increasingly more difficult but offer better rewards based on performance. The mode has three difficulty and matchmaking options for those who just want to jump in with random players, their own class, or a private fireteam.
Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 Start Date
Naturally, players can earn plenty of rewards this year, including returningDestiny 2favorites like the Allstar Vector Skimmer, Taraxippos, The Title, and Hullabaloo. This year also adds a new arc-powered trace rifle called Keraunios, three new armor sets on sale in the Eververse store for Bright Dust or Silver, as well as the earnable Champ title and seal. Individual players are also rewarded for their Guardian Games contributions, earning armor glows for things like being the best in the Tower, weekly Rushdown performance, being a member of the winning class for that day, as well as performances in Supremacy and Gambit.
Regardless, there is a serious influx of content coming to players in the next couple of weeks. Alongside Moments of Triumph and Guardian Games, Act 2 adds a new activity called Court of Blades, which seems to blend a boss rush mode with roguelite elements. Beyond that, Bungie also revealed a newDestiny 2activity called Rite of the Nine,which will be added later when Act 3 launches. The Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghost of the Deep dungeons will open to all players, and feature unique modifiers, including a Pantheon-style mode to really crank up the challenge.
