Summary

Bungie releases Update 8.2.5.2 forDestiny 2, addressing more bugs and other visual issues impacting the experience while also further tweaking the Crucible. Updates and patches are a fairly common sight for live-service games likeDestiny 2, as the constant flow of new content, events, and seasons results in higher chances for something to break or not go quite the way the developers anticipated.

WhileDestiny 2is in a fairly stable place these days, the switch to Episodic content following the launch of the Final Shape expansion hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Bungie or the playerbase. The previous two episodes have seen major issues appear, including one particularly nasty bug that prevented highly-sought-afterDestiny 2weapons from dropping with specific perks. Bungie has been quick to address these issues, though the studio continues to release new updates to fix as many issues as it can.

Alongside theDestiny 2weekly reset, Bungie also added another newupdateto the online game. Update 8.2.5.2 mainly fixes a number of bugs still in the game, including making Vesper’s Host available in weekly rotations, putting an end to a potential soft lock in the Court of Blades, as well as corrections to exotics like Thorn and Deterministic Chaos. Outside of that, Bungie is also reverting a change made to the Hunter’s Astral Stasis Drake Helmet, which caused a visual glitch with the hood being down. Bungie plans to create a duplicate helmet that lowers hoods by default in a future update.

This patch also continues changes toDestiny 2’s recent Crucible adjustments. For Update 8.2.5.2, Lockdown saw the bulk of the changes, as players can now revive teammates, heavy ammo spawn timer is now doubled from 60 to 120 seconds, and teams will need to neutralize a zone in order to prevent a triple cap. For the Competitive side of the Crucible, Bungie continued to tweak the point system and how they’re earned or lost. There was also a bug that could prevent solo players from receiving loss protection when going against a duo fireteam, which is now fixed.

Thankfully, not every issue is one that requires a fix. On the rare occasion, Bungie has been known to turn a bug into a feature, such as a recent issue which madeclass-specific swords and glaives available to allDestiny 2players. Instead of reverting things back to the way they were, Bungie is letting the bug live on, giving players access to gear they normally wouldn’t have access to. Not only that, the bug has inspired the dev team to create more unique weapon animations for Titans and Warlocks in the future to match the Hunter’s Quickfang and Goldtusk swords.
