Dexter Morgan’s return in the sequel series, Resurrection, was a surprise to many fans who thought he was actually dead after New Blood’s divisive ending. Turns out, Michael C. Hall wanted to revisit his most iconic role, andDexter’s showrunnerswere also keen. Clyde Phillips told a recentReddit AMA:
We decided to bring the character back because Michael C. Hall came to me and said “I want to keep going. Can you figure out how to ‘unkill me’?” My first phone call was to Scott, and he felt the same way. It was off of Michael wanting to continue, and we figured out how to do it.
Michael C. Hall’s return was soon followed by the announcement of three more legacy characters: Angel Batista, Harrison and Harry Morgan. Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage were confirmed to join the Dexter-verse as new characters. In recent weeks,the ‘fan service’ type announcements of Arthur ‘Trinity’ Mitchell and Miguel Prado have been announced, and this has fueled the fans' desire for more familiar dead faces.The Ice Truck Killer doesn’t need to appear in the spin-off, but he also wouldn’t be an unwelcome addition.
