Summary

The latest patch notes forDiablo 4have been released for the game’s next 2.2.0 Public Test Realm (PTR). The PTR allows players a preview of the features that will be added to Season 8 ofDiablo 4. It also allows Blizzard to make last-minute adjustments ahead of the season’s start date, should they be required.

The upcomingSeason 8 ofDiablo 4will revolve around Belial’s returnand will focus on tougher bosses. Blizzard has already confirmed that the Liar system will be reworked for Season 8, with bosses being split into three tiers: Initiate, Greater, and Exalted. Now the developer has given a taste of what players can expect from the next PTR ahead of its release.

The 2.2.0 Public Test Realm forDiablo 4will be available to PC players between March 11 and March 18 and, along with the new boss ranking system, players will be able to get their hands on some interesting loot. Boss powers are new medallions that are obtained when any of the bosses throughoutDiablo 4are defeated. Players can add any three medallions to their character build, allowing them to summon a boss to aid in battle.

Unique items will be available for different character classes, providing relevant buffs to help fight through the Lairs. For example, theDruid class inDiablo 4can find Gathlen’s Birthright, a helm that grants the wearer an additional 15% attack speed and 224-296 armor. It is worth noting that the PTR only offers a glimpse at what’s to come in the main game. Gamers will not be able to keep any of the weapons, skills, or upgrades gained in the PTR.

To allow enough time for these features to be tested, Blizzardextended Season 7 ofDiablo 4., which now ends on April 29, almost two weeks later than expected. While the delay may be disappointing to some, it seems the developers wanted to take a little extra time to make sure the mammoth update has been fully stress-tested.

The changes seen in the 2.2.0 PTR might not be the only thing fans have to look forward to from Blizzard in the coming months. Rumors are currently circulating that suggestDiablo 4could be heading to the Switch 2along with other Microsoft-owned titles, includingStarfieldandThe Master Chief Collection. Microsoft has been keen to share its first-party titles on other platforms and has even signed a commitment to bring theCall of Dutyfranchise back to Nintendo consoles.
