Fallout 4and theDestinygames are very different, but they’re surprisingly similar in certain select ways. They’re both first-person shooters that incorporate RPG-style progression, and are of similar age, at least if one countsDestinyandDestiny 2as a single ongoing title. They’re also surprisingly open to player expression, what with thedeep support forFallout 4mods, andDestiny 2’s increasingly robust armor customization system.

One player, who goes by Pretend-Money9035 on Reddit, used that same customization system to furtherFallout 4andDestiny’s connection. They recreated the iconicFallout 4companionPreston Garvey using a customDestiny 2costume, sharing it with the DestinyFashion subreddit. Using the game’s deep bench of cosmetic options, they recreated Preston’s appearance using parts meant for a Warlock Guardian.

The centerpiece of Pretend-Money9035’s costume is Preston Garvey’s telltale Minuteman hat, recreated using the TM-Moss Custom Hat cosmetic from theDestiny 2Spire of the Watcher dungeon. With its pinned brim, the hat evokes the hat favored by theFallout 4Commonwealth Minutemen, who themselves are inspired by the American revolutionary-era militia organization. Preston Garvey’s long colonial-style coat strikes a similar style, ably recreated by the Wrath Trail robes fromDestiny 2Season 9.

FellowDestiny 2players were quite impressed by the creation, calling it one of the bestFalloutDestiny 2costumesthey’d seen yet. A few commenters humorously referenced Preston Garvey’s obsession with helping settlements, joking that aFallout 4player would have a very long walk ahead of them were Preston to randomly mark The Last City on their Pip-Boy map as yet another settlement to aid.

A few made suggestions for a potential Preston Garvey-themed character build to go with the costume, thinking through the potential of trying to role-play inDestiny 2as the last of the Commonwealth Minutemen. They said such a build would likely be based around long-rangeDestiny 2weapons like sniper and scout rifles, as well as “laser-like” weapons like the beam-firing trace rifle, a reference to Preston’s love of theFallout 4Laser Musket weapon.
