Summary
The First Berserker: Khazanreceived its first-ever balance update, which makes the game’s Easy difficulty even more forgiving. The patch also tweaks a fewThe First Berserker: Khazanweapons and bosses.
Developed by South Korean studio Neople and published by its parent company, Nexon,The First Berserker: Khazanis a new soulslike with cel-shaded graphics and fast-paced combat. While it strives to offer the kind of difficulty that its (sub)genre is known for, it also includes an Easy mode. The First Berserker: Khazanplayers are offered the option to play on Easyonce they die three times. Anyone who takes the game up on this offer won’t be able to switch back to Normal during the same playthrough.
Just ahead ofThe First Berserker: Khazan’s release, the game received its first balance update, which rolled out in the early morning hours (ET) on March 27. The patch makes the Easy difficulty even easier by increasing Khazan’s damage while simultaneously decreasing both health and stamina damage that he receives. Neople did not provide a more detailed breakdown of these tweaks, making it unclear just how significant the newly introduced changes are.
The First Berserker: Khazan Is Now More Forgiving With Guard-Based Playstyles
Regardless of the exact modifiers in play, the sole act of reducing health and stamina damage should be particularly helpful for usingGuard-based playstyles inThe First Berserker: Khazan, as blocking has so far been fairly stamina-intensive. Even perfect Guards tend to consume more stamina than dodges, though they do come with the advantage of being easier to pull off.
The First Berserker: Khazan Was Made Easier Due to Player Feedback
Reflecting on the newly launched changes,The First Berserker: KhazanCreative Director Junho Lee said that the Easy difficulty was revised based on the recent influx of player feedback. Even though Neople designed it to be accessible, some players still found themselves struggling with overcoming certain sections even after switching to Easy mode, prompting the developer to make further tweaks. These changes notwithstanding,The First Berserker: Khazanwas designed to appeal to players of all skill levels, and offers a steep challenge for those willing to embrace it.
The new balance update also buffs the Greatsword’s Brutal Attack skill, while increasing the Spirit and Guard Stamina consumption of the Spear’s Phantom: Heatwave skill. Skoffa Cave, Linon Mine, Rephalan, Rovelion, Vitalon, and the Great Temple bosses have all been buffed as part of the patch as well. The March 27 balancing update is identified by version number 495103 on Steam, as well as 01.002.028 and 1.1.2.28 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, respectively.
