The Rocket Drill has two abilities. Its main function will send the player flying in the direction that they’re facing. If they’re facing upward, they’ll shoot up into the air. If they’re facing forward, it’ll send them rocketing straight ahead. If the player makes contact with an enemy while blasting forward, they’ll deal around 80 damage to them and knock them backward. Players can also destroy buildings and structures by rocketing through them.
A small meter next to the player’s aiming reticle will represent how much juice is left in the rocket. Once that meter is depleted, the Rocket Drill will stop working until the meter is filled up again.
Similar toitems like the Kneecapper batandthe Plasma Burst Laser, the Rocket Drill has a duration meter that can be seen next to its icon in the player’s inventory. Once that meter is used up, the Rocket Drill will break and disappear.
The secondary function of a Rocket Drill is to use it like a regular drill. By holding onto the left trigger or right mouse click, the drill will spin and damage any enemy who is unlucky enough to be standing in front of it. The drill doesn’t have much of a range, so the enemy will have to be very close to be affected by this attack.
The best way to utilize the Rocket Drill’s drilling capabilities is touse it on bank vaults.When heisting a bank, the Rocket Drill can be used to break the burning rods of the vault’s door. This means that if players are planning on busting into the bank and stealing all of its loot and gold, a Rocket Drill may be just the tool they need to get the job done.
While the Rocket Drill has offensive capabilities, it is best used as a traversal item. It’s great for escaping ambushes and battles that are going poorly. It’s also handy for reaching higher vantage points for better sniping opportunities. And for players who are annoyed by this season’s primary melee weapon, the Kneecapper, the Rocket Drill can be used as a sort of counter for it, as it can be activated mid-air. This means that if you get batted off a mountaintop, you may use the Rocket Drill to blast off and avoid death by fall damage.
