Fortnitehas hosted more than its fair share ofStar Warscollaborations over the last six years, with its first occurring all the way back in Chapter 2 Season 1. Since then, there have been over 10 separate collabs betweenFortniteandStar Wars, bringing characters from all corners of the Galaxy Far, Far Away to the ever-changing battle royale island. But if some recent leaks are to be believed,Fortnite’s biggestStar Warscrossoveryet might be right around the corner.

According to leakers @Loolo_WRLD and @X0X_LEAK,FortniteChapter 6 Season 3 – set to begin on May 2 – will feature a 30-dayStar Warscrossover. This mini season will reportedly feature a themed battle pass containing 4–5 skins, some newStar Warsbosses, someStar WarsPOIs, and some newStar Wars-themed in-game items. This season would be perfectly timed forStar Wars' May 4 celebrations, and it might also be the perfect time to resolve one long-standing complaint fans have had aboutFortnite’s battle pass system.

Fortnite’s Rumored Star Wars Season Should Set a New Precedent for Battle Pass Skins

Fortnite Fans Want Old Battle Pass Skins to Come to the Item Shop

For the longest time, skins and other cosmetics contained inFortnite’s battle passeswere entirely exclusive. Players could only unlock battle pass cosmetics by purchasing the battle pass and unlocking those rewards, and once the battle pass had expired and the season changed, those cosmetics were gone forever. This meant that new players who jumped on board after a battle pass expired could never unlock those cosmetics, nor could players who had purchased the battle pass but not finished it in time.

Back in August of last year, Epic Games finally made the decision to changeFortnite’s battle pass exclusivity system. As ofFortniteChapter 5 Season 3, any cosmetics contained in a season’s battle pass have a chance to reappear in the Item Shop at least 18 months after they originally appeared. This decision was deemed as a positive one by the community, striking a good balance between keeping the battle pass rewarding while giving players more ways to eventually get the skins they missed out on.

ButFortnite’s new battle pass approach still isn’t perfect. Epic Games has stated that only cosmetics contained in battle passes from Chapter 5 Season 3 onwards have a chance to reappear in the future. This means that there are 28 battle passes' worth of cosmetics that new fans will never have a chance to unlock. Naturally, a lot of fans want this to change.

Fortnite’s Star Wars Season Could Be To Open the Floodgates

Fortnite’s rumoredStar Warsseason could be the perfect opportunity to crack open the floodgates a little, and add an old battle pass skin to the Item Shop. More specifically,Fortnite’sStar Warsseasonshould bring back The Mandalorian outfit.

Originally released as part ofFortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 5 battle pass, The Mandalorian skin is based on the titular character from the Disney+ show. The Mando skin was originally tied to a neat quest that saw players completing missions to earn pieces of thebounty hunter’s Beskar armorset. Unfortunately, anyone who didn’t buy the battle pass in 2020 is unable to get Mando’s default or Beskar outfit.
