Summary
A newGenshin Impactleak has revealed details about upcoming updates that might be great news for fans of the Mondstadt region. Mondstadt was the first region added toGenshin Impactand has been the starting point for every Traveler’s adventure through the world of Teyvat.
The Teyvat continent consists of seven major regions, six of which have been revealed so far, with the Pyro nation Natlan being the most recent addition toGenshin Impact5.0. The only remaining region that has not yet been unlocked is the mysterious nation of Snezhnaya, home to the Cryo Archon Tsaritsa, who is expected to be one of the endgame villains.
Even though Natlan has been in the spotlight sinceGenshin ImpactVersion 5.0, the main storyline has shifted from the Pyro nation occasionally, especially in the last two updates. The second part of 5.3 took players to the Liyue region for the Lantern Rite Festival, while update 5.4 focused on the Electro region, Inazuma. A newposton theGenshin ImpactLeaks subreddit has revealed that the main storyline might return to the fan-favorite Mondstadt region in Version 5.6. The leak suggests that the update will feature Mondstadt-related stories as well as a new weekly boss. This also adds credibility to previous rumors that update 5.6 will include a map expansion, though it is expected to be smaller than the one in Version 5.5, which has been confirmed to add a large part of Natlan, including the famous Great Volcano of Tollan.
Genshin Impact: Mondstadt Expansion Expectations
Even though Mondstadt has not received any significant changes since 2020, it remains a favorite location for many Travelers due to its unique design. Over the last couple of years, many credible leakers have hinted at aMondstadt expansion inGenshin Impact, but it seems like HoYoverse has been delaying it for quite some time. Many fans suspect that the Mondstadt expansion could be tied to the recently released teaser about Nod-Krai, a new region apparently located in the southern part of Snezhnaya.
The new Mondstadt region might serve as an introduction to Nod-Krai, which means it could be located in the northern part of the map. Regarding a new event in update 5.6, players suspect that it could be related to Mondstadt’s Windblume Festival, as HoYoverse released similar events in 2021 and 2023. Fans also hope that they will finally get to meetGenshin Impact’s Varka, the Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius and one of the most legendary characters in all of Teyvat.
There is also a chance that this update will further explore the mystery of the three moon sisters and the fan theory that Paimon might be one of them. This theory was also teased inGenshin Impact’s most recent Nod-Krai teaser.
