With March 2025 marking 20 years since the release of the firstGod of Wargame, Santa Monica Studio is celebrating the occasion by giftingGod of War Ragnarokplayers some nostalgic new content. An upcomingGod of War Ragnarokupdate landing on PS4/PS5 and PC on Thursday, March 20,will add the Dark Odyssey collection, a bundle of in-game items that harken back topreviousGod of Wartitles. The name itself - Dark Odyssey - is a reference to the development codename for the firstGod of Wargame, and the collection will most notably include the Dark Odyssey Appearance for Kratos, a black-and-gold skin reminiscent of the reward for completingGod of War 2on its toughest God Mode difficulty.

Additionally,God of War Ragnarokplayers can equip Kratos with the Dark Odyssey Armor Set, which features a themed breastplate, belt, and bracers. Atreus and Freya, the two most prominentcompanion characters inGod of War Ragnarok, also get vestments sporting the Dark Odyssey treatment. The black-and-gold color scheme extends to all of Kratos' weapons and their attachments too, as well as the shields. It’s worth noting that the Dark Odyssey appearances can only be applied to the weapons when they’re fully upgraded, and this update will also add the ability to use the Edit Appearance feature for attachments and shield ronds.
