TCL positions the new QM6K as an “affordable premium” TV in its 2025 lineup, and it’s easy to see why. TCL reworked the entire mini-LED backlighting to make it more precise. It also features an improved HVA panel, which significantly improves the viewing angles compared to last year’s models. The result issuperior blacks and better off-angle performance, something you get in much more expensive OLED TVs.

From early hands-on reviews, the QM6K’s precise mini-LED backlighting, enhanced HVA panel, and upgraded quantum crystals deliver a noticeable upgrade in picture quality. The QM6K has the best color accuracy compared to other TVs in the same price range. It does lose a few brightness points compared to some 2024 models, such as the QM7, but highlights still pop when viewing HDR content.

TheTCL QM7from last year is likely the model that will be compared to the new QM6K. It is much brighter, packs significantly more dimming zones (1,500 vs. 500), and is currently cheaper. If your living room windows stream a lot of direct sunlight during the day, or you just want something more affordable, the QM7 will not disappoint.
However, if you can spend a little more, the QM6K is a significant upgrade, thanks to its stellar picture quality, wider viewing angles, and improved gaming features. It’s also currently the cheapest it has ever been.
