Hori has released a Pro version of itsofficially licensed PS5 fighting gamepad, now available forpre-order on Amazonfor $99.99. The newWireless Fighting Commander OCTA Profeatures a 6-button layout and an 8-gate analog stick, similar to the OCTA, but it is wireless and includes back buttons and interchangeable D-pads.
The video game accessories maker has been killing it with its awesome fight pads and sticks. The Hori OCTA is one of the rare 6-button gamepads built specifically for thePS5and PC, and its killer features and price earned it a spot on ourbest fighting game controllersroundup.
In fact, this is the same controller Tekken 8 player Chikurin used to win the EVO Japan 2024 championship.
Even with a championship to its name, the OCTA is not without its flaws. The D-pad is its biggest downside. While undeniably accurate, it can be uncomfortable and sometimes misses diagonal inputs. The new OCTA Pro brings a major upgrade with swappable D-pads and adds even more pro features, putting it right up there with the top-tierPDP Victrix Pro BFG.

The OCTA Pro keeps the 6-button layout, which makes it perfect for fighting games likeTekken 8andStreet Fighter 6. Right next to the six buttons, there’s a little stick now, that Hori says is for “in-game lobby navigation.” But you’re able to still use it like a regular joystick in other games. On the left, you’ve got a slightly bigger D-pad and the main joystick with an octagonal gate to help you nail those directional inputs.
Finally, you may swap out the D-pad on your Hori fight pad. The OCTA Pro comes with three different D-pads you can switch, including a cross-style one, which should hopefullyfix the squishy D-pad from the old one. And if six face buttons aren’t enough, Hori adds two programmable back buttons, giving you even more buttons to map attacks. Like the OCTA, all the buttons use micro switches, so they’re superfast and durable.
With the new model, Hori is finally ditching the cords. The OCTA Pro is an official wireless controller for the PS5, so you may finally chill on the couch while playing your favorite games. It also works wired with the included USB-C cable, which features a lock to prevent disconnects during intense moments. Hori also includes another lock feature to turn off some buttons so you don’t accidentally press them in the middle of a tournament.

The new Hori Wireless Fighting Commander OCTA Pro comes out on April 14th, but you can lock in your order today on Amazon for $99.99. That’s $40 more than the regular Hori OCTA, but you get better D-pads, back buttons, and wireless, which is pretty sweet.
It might look pricey, but it’s actually a steal when compared to other pro PS5 controllers. Not many PS5 controllers have back buttons, let alone a 6-button layout. The only PS5 controllers with similar features are thePDP Victrix Pro BFG($180), theDualSense Edge($200), and theNacon Revolution 5 Pro($200). The Edge and Nacon have a regular 4-button layout, but they do have back buttons.
