Maluca, the leader of theKnivesveil, was once a loyal soldier of the empire working for the emperor. However, his greed for power strayed him from the path, and now he is a troublesome foe in the way ofKhazan. Maluca is the second boss in the game that significantly raises the difficulty,requiring precise Brink Guards and dodgesto prevent players from losing half their health bar in a single mistake.
The boss is located right after theThrone of the Veil(Blade Nexus) duringthe seventh mission inside Nadin Quarry. Let’s go over all of his attacks and the best strategies to defeat him inThe First Berserker: Khazan.
Phase 1
Double Thrust
Maluca thrusts his greatswords, then follows up with two wide swings.Guarding or dodging both work here.
Charged Gale
The boss charges his greatsword and releases a gust of air three times, with the third release being stronger.You need to time your Brink Guard or dodge when the weapon flashes, signaling an incoming gust.
Spinning Burst
Maluca spins around, performing a Burst Attack.Counterattack right before he makes contact.
Descending Slam
The boss jumps up, spins in the air, and then slams to the ground. In the second phase, he can perform this twice. Time your guard to avoid taking damage.
Glowing Impact
Maluca charges his greatswords until they start shining, then slams the ground.Dodge right after you see the shine.
Phase 2
Greatsword Slam
Immediately, as the second phase starts, the boss jumps up and slams the ground, then begins to charge and vibrate the area, causing an eruption.Brink Guard the slam, then run out of the areaor dodge as the eruption takes place.
Deadly Shethe
After the slam attack, Maluca takes out his curved sword, sheathes it, and attempts a quick-draw attack.This attack has an audio cue and must be dodged; otherwise, it deals significant damage and causes Chaos buildup.
10-Hit Curved Combo
The boss strikes once, sheathes his sword, then jumps back to slice the ground before pushing forward with nine consecutive attacks.Brink Guarding all of these significantly reduces the boss’s stamina bar.
Leaping Grab
Maluca leaps into the air before thrusting his sword at the player. This cannot be blocked, sododging is your only option when you hear the audio cue.
Quickdraw
The boss sheathes his sword before performing a quick-draw attack that inflicts Chaos buildup. Dodging is an option, butBrink Guard is highly recommended as it will stagger him. He can sometimes alter the attack by rolling twice before drawing the weapon.
Arc Slashes
The boss performs three powerful wide-arc slashes while leaping into the air. Guarding against these attacks can significantly impact his stamina meter.
Double Slam
Maluca takes out his greatsword and performs two airborne slams. Guarding or dodging at the right time are both viable options.Once his health is extremely low, he can add a third slam to the sequence.
Relentless Gale
The boss charges up his greatsword and releases a powerful gust of air seven times, with each subsequent attack having a shorter charge time.You need to Brink Guard while gradually reducing the time between each guard to match the decreasing charge time.
How To Beat Maluca In The First Berserker: Khazan
Maluca starts off the fight using his greatswords.His attacks are quite slow, so it is recommended that you attempt to dodgemost of them.Staying on the offensiveagainst this boss is the best approach because, similar toThe First Berserker Khazan’s other human bosses,Maluca’s stamina bar actively increases, making it quite difficult to force him into an exhausted state. Despite this,his stamina bar goes down quickly, so dodging all of his attacks and constantly attacking him should get you two Brutal Attacks before he shifts into the second phase.
The second phase is where this fight truly tests your skills. Maluca starts the phase with a slamfollowed by a quickdraw attack, briefly slowing down the game and giving you a chance to dodge. What follows is a barrage of quick attacks,all of which you must Brink Guard to crush his stamina barand land a free Brutal Attack.
The key attack that can shift the fight in your favor is his quickdraw. Maluca sheathes his weapon, andafter a brief flash, he delivers a devastating strike. This not only deals heavy damage but also builds up Chaos, reducing your max health unless cured. Fortunately,Chaos Cleanse Potions, which you may have acquired along the way,can instantly remove this effect. EquippingChaos Resistant NecklacesandRingsbefore the fight will also make this battle much more manageable.
As you chip away more of his health,Maluca will switch back to his greatswords, performing attacks similar to those in the first phase but with additional hits. His attacks become more relentless, requiring quicker reactions. One of his most dangerous moves is an attackwhere he unleashes consecutive gusts of air. You can Brink Guard each one right after you see the flash animation. However,with each gust, he reduces the charge time, leaving you with less time to reactand forcing you to guard with near-perfect timing.
