Summary
This is surely going to be a great year for horror and thriller fans, with releases likeHeart Eyes,M3GAN 2.0, andMickey 17on the horizon. Of course, not all the thriller movies releasing this year are going to be extraordinary, and there will definitely be a few misses, but the titles of 2025 surely look intriguing enough to compel fans to visit theaters.
However, while several big-budget thriller flicks will be released in theaters before becoming available for streaming, there will be some underrated gems that will directly hit streaming in 2025. One such movie isDelicious, the German thriller directed by Nele Mueller-Stöfen, which will be available to stream on Netflix soon. There is a pretty high chance you haven’t even heard of this movie, but judging from the trailer that Netflix dropped last month, the upcoming film does seem like it’s worth your attention. The trailer doesn’t give up the entire plot (fortunately), but from what is showcased, the movie looks very similar to2019’s Parasite.

2019’sParasite,directed by Bong Joon-ho,was about a poor family who decided to infiltrate a rich family by concealing their true identities. They just wanted to eat off a table that they didn’t earn, and, well, the plot of theDeliciousfilm doesn’t sound too different. As shown in the official trailer, it’s about a rich family who takes in a young girl, Teodora, as a maid to help with the household activities.
There’s ahuge emphasis on income gapsand how some people work long hours and get paid proverbial pennies. We can also see some waiters envying rich families having lavish dinners in a restaurant. Teodora also works in the same restaurant and seems to feel the same, so it could have been an opportunity for the girl to earn some extra bucks; however, she does seem to have other intentions.
Do you know the feeling when life suddenly develops in a way you never wanted it to?
It’s very clear that this family is quite shady in itself, andeveryone is hiding something from each other. However, Teodora tries to bring out the worst in each family member and seems to enjoy giving and taking physical pain, suggesting that there could be a sadistic side to her. She not only manipulates the family members into showing their true and shocking sides, but she alsogets uncomfortably close to some of the family members. That’s not it, as we also see some splashes of blood in the trailer, which makes it clear that not everyone will make it out alive. Maybe it’s the girl who does some physical damage to the family members, or maybe she manipulates the family into hurting each other.
There’s clearly aneerie mystery around Teodora, but it’s the final scene of the trailer that gets the mind spinning about her true nature. The girl, while cooking food, eats raw meat like she isn’t even human. The trailer is full of shocking scenes like these, and theysets high expectations for the movie.
Netflix’s Brilliant Trailer Sets High Expectations ForDelicious
It Hints At Grand Twists While Not Giving Away Too Much
Bong Joon-ho’sParasitehad a similar plot, and it turned out to be a masterclass film thatgets under your skin with its sensational twists and turns. It’s hard to say ifDeliciouswill deliver the same sort of excellence, and maybe it’s too soon to compareDeliciouswith Bong Joon-ho’s incredible film, but it certainly seems to be an exciting ride, especially for fans who lovedParasite. The film premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, and for now, it has beensitting on an IMDb rating of 5.8.
The rating, of course, doesn’t paint a rosy picture forDelicious, but that can change once the film is available to stream for the worldwide audience. It’s the job of a trailer to spark excitement among viewers to watch the film while not giving away too much of the story. Well, let’s just say that the trailer forDelicioushas done remarkable work at that. The performances in the trailer look great, and the music beautifully complements the mystery in each scene. Now, it remains to be seen if the movie stands up to our high expectations, and since it will stream worldwide later this week, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
