Summary

Good news forInvinciblefans: the video game adaptation is, in fact, still in the works and is “definitely cool,” according to creator Robert Kirkman. Details about the game have remained sparse since Skybound Games first announced its plans for it, but that radio silence doesn’t mean the company hasn’t been hard at work. A recent update fromInvincible’s creator offers some needed, albeit vague, assurance about the title’s development.

Fans first got word of the project when Skyboundstarted a crowdfunding campaign for its AAAInvinciblegame, which raised over $440,000 on its first day. By the time the campaign closed on June 13, 2025, it had raised $687,102, which is far above its minimum goal of $50,000 but well below the maximum target of $5 million. Since the crowdfunding window closed, little, if anything, has come out about the project, which isn’t a comfortable place to be for fans looking forward to the game. Now, there’s finally some relief.

In an interview with Dexerto, Kirkman confirmed theInvinciblegame is still in the works, although he mentioned he may not be at liberty to give away too many details. Perhaps more excitingly, the comic creator said he’s more hyped about this game than he has been for any other development related to the superhero franchise. That sets expectations for the title pretty high, considering the success of the show, which recently broughtnine more additions to its star-studded castfor Season 3. The show has reportedly already started work on its fourth season, too, so there’s a lot in store for theInvincibleuniverse going forward.

Robert Kirkman Confirms the Invincible Game Is Still in Development

Skybound’s upcoming AAA game won’t be the first video game adaptation of Kirkman’s iconic superhero comic. Ubisoftreleased a free-to-playInvinciblemobile gamein early 2024, though an idle RPG may leave something to be desired for fans looking for the fast-paced, action-packed battles they see in the show and comics. Omni-Man also made an appearance inMortal Kombat 1, which is an appropriately violent setting for the Viltrumite. Skybound’s game has a chance to takeInvincible’s video game presence up to the same level as the show and original source material.

What kind of game the Skybound title will be or when it will come out is still a mystery. For now, fans canunlock someInvinciblecharacterFortniteskinsto scratch the superhero itch, but the wait for an official release date will likely be a long one.
