Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowis an upcoming superhero movie from DC Studios. The film follows Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, who endured the destruction of planet Krypton. Alcock will make her debut as Supergirl inDavid Corenswet’s upcoming movieSuperman. Meanwhile,Supergirlwill also feature Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruth Marye Knoll and Jason Momoa as Lobo. Momoa was part of the defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), where he playedAquaman. Momoa starred in two solo films,Aquaman(2018) andAquaman and the Lost Kingdom(2023). He is the first star from the DCEU to join James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU. Momoa is playing his dream role — portraying Lobo from DC Comics. In a recent interview, he shared new details about his new DC character.

Momoa recently sat down for an interview with ScreenRant to promote his new movie,A Minecraft Movie, which is coming out next month. During the interview, he opened up about finally playing his dream role. “Well, this is the role I’ve always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I’m really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It’s pretty big,“Momoa said. TheFast Xstar was careful not to spoil fans, but he dropped a major hint about its appearance compared to the comics. Momoa said:

I don’t want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I’ll say the bike’s really cool.

Safran previously discussed Lobo’s appearance inSupergirlin an interview withThe Nerds of Colorin February. He said that its director, Craig Gillespie, was a “great collaborator” when they worked on Schoenaerts', Alcock’s and Momoa’s looks for the film. When asked when fans would see Momoa’s first official look as Lobo, Gunn said it would not happen anytime soon. “It’s probably going to be a while, to be frank,” he said. Gunn said in another interview that Momoa reached out to him shortly after DC Studios was announced to show his interest in playing the intergalactic bounty hunter. Since that text, Gunn was convinced togive the role to Momoa. When theJustice Leaguestar finally announced his casting on Instagram, Gunn commented on Momoa’s postwelcoming him to DCU.

It’s not difficult to transform Momoa into Lobo because he looks like him. He has Lobo’s massive physique, towering height, muscular build, long, messy hair and beard, and intimidating presence. Momoa also shares Lobo’s larger-than-life personality and it’s no sweat for the actor to portray Lobo’s sarcastic and no-nonsense attitude with his versatility. Lobo is loud, crude and hilarious. The anti-hero doesn’t care about rules. Momoa has already portrayed the same rebellious energy in his previous projects — as Khal Drogo inGames of Thrones, Arthur Curry inAquamanand Baba Voss inSee.

Lobo is also an intergalactic biker, causing chaos wherever he goes. Momoa shares the same passion and pursues it in his 2024On The Roamdocuseries, where he embarks on a journey across the United States to explore art, adventure and craftmanship using his bike. Momoa was born to play the role, and it’s exciting to see him add fun and chaotic force to the DC Universe. He will surely not disappoint, especially now that he’splaying his dream role.
