Summary
Final Fantasyis a legendary video game series that needs no introduction. The sheer number ofamazing story-driven JRPGsin this franchise makes it clear why so many fans go crazy over the announcement of a newtitle.
The best part about eachFinal Fantasygame is a rich and diverse cast of characters who are a joy to interact with. Some of these characters have been extremely lucky throughout their life, a fact that must be acknowledged.
As an infant, Sarisa fell off a ship and was assumed to be dead. Yet, she miraculously managed to survive andjoined a crew of pirates, somehow hiding her identity as a woman and leading a group of these criminals in no time.
Her trauma didn’t surface until she met Lenna, leading to a lucky reunion of the sisters. She eventually returned to the kingdom of Tycoon, reclaiming her heritage as a princess and seemingly being pardoned for her criminal acts.
AFinal Fantasyprotagonist with barely any aurato speak of, it’s amazing how Vaan managed to accomplish anything by just being loud and stubborn. He somehow stumbled upon a group of heroes way more competent than him as he was embroiled in a series of political events well beyond his capacities.
Not only did he succeed as a hero, but he also ended up achieving his dream of becoming a Sky Pirate at the end of the game. For a character who was a bit too headstrong and foolish, things panned out pretty well for him.
Zidane is a belovedFinal Fantasyprotagonistwho engaged in his fair share of criminal activities. However, instead of being tried for his crimes, he somehow ended up charming a princess and marrying into royalty.
As a result, he was never persecuted for his crimes after the events ofFinal Fantasy 9. The fact that he managed to survive the wrath of his brother and a malicious divine deity who came out of nowhere makes it clear why Zidane is one of the luckiestFinal Fantasyprotagonists of all time.
Yang is a monk whotemporarily joins Cecil in his adventures, helping the protagonist conquer numerous challenges. After conquering the Tower of Babil, everyone assumes that Yang is dead after he stays behind to stop the Super Cannons from blasting the dwarves to bits.
However, not only does he somehow survive after being willing to sacrifice himself, but he eventually rises in status to become the King of Fabul. For a man who wasn’t supposed to be alive, things panned out pretty well for Yang.
Despite being exposed to the Guardian Forces, Irvine was lucky enough to retain the memories he shared with the heroes in the orphanage. He comes off as a creep at times but isn’t lambasted too hard for his behavior.
Perhaps his luckiest moment came when he choked in his mission and failed to shoot Edea from a distance, even if the memories of the past prevented him from shooting a woman who served as a mother figure in his life. Not only did the rest of the party pick up the slack, but Irvine wasn’t even punished for his failure.
There’s no denying that losing her grandfather in front of her eyes is a traumatic moment that affected Krile, but her luck arrives from a gameplay standpoint. Despite being a newcomer to the party, she inherits all of Galuf’s powers without a proper explanation.
In a way, the player is lucky since they don’t have to build up a party member from Level 1. Krile herself is lucky to become a Warrior of Light without any experience and using her newfound power to deal with powerful monsters without facing too many problems.
As a thief with a heart of gold, Yuffie eventually becomes an endearing character that will grow on fans over time. This is despite her making a poor first impression, where she evades the party any chance she gets, making it a pain to recruit her.
What makes things worse is when players land in the continent of Wutai, only for Yuffie to steal all their materia in one of the most frustrating moments in the series. Yuffie should consider herself lucky that the party didn’t chuck her out for this act instead of welcoming her back with open arms.
The world of Spira was trapped in a cycle of destruction that can only be broken with the sacrifice of a summoner. Yuna accepts this goal and is willing to lay her life down, but she’s lucky enough to have a group of friends who don’t want her to lay down her life for an unjust cause.
It helps that the Fayth became active just when it was her turn to sacrifice herself, bringing back the spirits of Tidus and Auron to save the world and prevent her from embarking on a doomed quest. This allowed Yuna to survive and usher in a new age of Spira, allowing her to become a beloved J-pop idol along with Rikku and Paine.
