InMonster Hunter Wilds, several monsters are not available (and will not spawn) until you reach certain milestones in the campaign. Blangonga is one of these monsters. Like an enormous baboon, Blangonga command smaller Blango and can attack rapidly across a surprisingly wide area, making the fightparticularly dangerous for ranged weapon users.
To beat Blangonga,MH Wildsplayers must pay attention for its ice breath attacks, be ready toevade out of the way of its fast attacks, and aim for its weak spots. This Blangonga guide details this monster’s location, Blangonga weaknesses and breakable parts, tips to avoid Blangonga attacks, and what you’re able to expect to get from this late-game monster.
Where To Find Blangonga Location In MH Wilds
Blangonga can only be found in onelocation inMonster Hunter Wilds:the Iceshard Cliffs region. You will unlock the Iceshard Cliffs after completing Chapter 2-3: Hopes of Home. This main story mission brings players face-to-face with a Hirabami and Nercylla before the Cliffs locale becomes available to explore.
Blangonga can appear in anytype of weather conditions at any type of day. The Blangonga is also a primary target in several main and side quests:
How To Beat Blangonga: Weaknesses & Weak Spots
Large, white fanged beasts that rule over other Blango, attacking intruders as a pack.
Its muscularity and mobility allows it to strike swiftly, even on fresh snow, and pounce from long distances—so hunters with long-range weapons still need to stay on guard.
MH Wilds Blangonga Weaknesses & Resistances
Though the Blangonga is not as scary or as large as some monsters inMonster Hunter Wilds, Blangonga weaknesses are few. That’s because the monster isresistant to all Ice and Dragondamage on all of its body parts, and isnot particularly weak to any other type of elemental damage(except Fire damage on its head and torso regions).
In general,Fire, Thunder, and melee damage types are the best to use against a Blangonga.
However, the Blangonga is also weak to various status effects, notably Sleep, Stun, Exhaust, and Paralysis. It’s alsosusceptible to Flash Pods and both Trap types. Bring alone weapons that can inflict status effects, and plenty of Flash Podsand Traps, to create windows of attack opportunity against this rampaging beast.

MH Wilds Blangonga Weak Spots & Breakable Parts
The Blangonga’shead and torso are its two weakest spots. On most monsters, hitting the head is a hard ask, and monster torsos tend to be heavily armored. But these two Blangongaweak spots are relatively easy to hit.
Though itsrear is not breakable, it is particularly weak to all attack types(except Ice and Dragon). If you’re having trouble dealing damage against a Blangonga, aim for its baboon-like bumto deal significantly more damage than you would to its other body parts.
TheBlangonga’s tail can be broken, and its head can be broken twice– including itstusks. Blangonga are essentially the Alphas of the much smaller Blango, and you’ll often have to face both this monster and its pack at the same time. Butif you break its tusks, it will have a harder time controlling the nearby Blango, making them significantly less of a problem to deal with.
How To Beat Blangonga: Attacks & Strategies
Blangonga Attacks To Watch Out For
The Blangonga isn’t a big monster, but it is a fast one thatcan catch you by surprisewith some of its moves. Notably, melee and ranged players will both find this boss' moveset tough to avoidas it darts around the environment and leaps to your location.
In general, attempt to stick to the monster’s side as a melee player, which should help you avoid its frontal ice smash attack and its rear kicks. Blangonga will sometimes swipe at you from either side, but these attacks can be avoided simply by rolling behind the monster before it swings.
If the Blangongadigs its hands into the ground in front of it, it will launch ice upwards soon after. This causes damage when it lifts the ice, and the ice itself can be launched as a projectile.Dodge to the sideto avoid this attack entirely.
As ameleeweapon user, try to anticipate when the monster will use its ice breath attack. When a Blangonga initiates its ice breath attack, it will be vulnerable for a good few seconds, during which time you can set up a Hunting Horn melody, get aFull Release Slash with a Switch Axeoff, or otherwiseconnect with a powerful, long-windup move.
As arangedweapon user, beating a Blangonga comes down tohow well you can anticipate its long-range attacks. It has two attacks to look out for in particular: thelong-range ice breath, and a long-range leaping attack. If you see themonster rear back with its head to the ground, start sprinting away to get out of range of the Iceblight it will inflict on you. If it jumps backward and leaps into the air, be ready to dodge forward to get out of its landing zone.
The monster also has aWeak Roarit will use as its health is lowered. Equip gear to reach at leastLvl 2 of the Earplugs skillto counteract this and continue attacking through its roars.
