InMonster Hunter Wilds, Jin Dahaad is one of the game’s few Apex Predators – and one of the hardest monsters to beat. Jin Dahaad is the pinnacle boss of the Iceshard Cliffs area and even has a unique arena. Hunters should expect tospend much more time fighting this monsterthan others thanks to its extremely high defenses.
To beat Jin Dahaad,MH Wildsplayers must pay attention to their positioning and stay out of the way of its most powerful moves, including an explosive attack that canjust about one-shot any Hunter.
This Jin Dahaad guide explains how to unlock and find this monster, the Jin Dahaad weaknesses, attacks you should avoid (including its ice explosion), and what Jin Dahaad rewards you will get by slaying this leviathan.
The Jin Dahaad is one of the most difficult monsters to beat inMonster Hunter Wilds, and can only be found in one location:Iceshard Cliffs. Thislate-game zone is home to a variety of monsters, and you’ll first encounter Jin Dahaad during the earlier mission Chapter 3-2: Nothing Frozen, Nothing Gained. But you won’t be able to find Jin Dahaad in the open world until you complete Chapter 5-1: Storm Cold Vortex in High Rank.
The Jin Dahaad is not like other monsters and does not patrol the Iceshard Cliffs zone. Instead, Jin Dahaad spawns almost exclusively at the pinnacle of Iceshard Cliffs in a special frozen boss arena.
Though Jin Dahaad is more likely to appear during Frostwinds weather, it can appear in any condition at any time of day. To see if Jin Dahaad has appeared, open up your world map and scroll over the Iceshard Cliffs icon.
Rest at the Iceshard Cliffs Base Campuntil you get a notification that Jin Dahaad has appeared, then start the quest by selecting the monster from the Environment Overview of the region. This will allow you to create a quest and teleport to the Makeshift Camp just outside of the arena.
A leviathan that sits at the peak of the Iceshard Cliff’s ecosystem.
It surrounds its massive form in cold temperatures via ridge-like cooling organs across its body.
The frost its limbs produce doubles as a potent weapon and a way to travel along walls and floating rocks.
The Jin Dahaad is an enormous beast with many parts, all of which areresistant to Ice damage. In fact, the monsterhardly hasanyweaknesses except for normal weapon damage types and Fire damage, but only against its head. In general, the monster does not have manyelemental weaknesses that you can take advantage of, but if you must choose one, go with Fire damage.
The Jin Dahaad is a gargantuan monster, but it can still beaffected by all status effects, especially Blastblight and Exhaust. Bring weapons that can trigger these effects to take advantage of this relative weakness. You caninflict Sleep, Paralysis, and other effects too, but it will take longer than your average monster.
In terms of tools, the Jin Dahaad isonly weak to Flash Pod and Shock Trap. It’s too large to be contained in a Pitfall Trap or be affected by a Sonic Bomb slinger shot, but Shock Traps will root it in place, andFlash Pods can interrupt all but its strongest move(the charge-up ice blast that you must hide from).

The Jin Dahaad has several notable weak spots, but they are hard to reach with the beast’s protective plating in the way. Thoughits tail can be severed, your attacks willbounce off of the Jin Dahaad protective plates until you break the Iceplate associated with each part. In total, there are five places you can break Jin Dahaad:
To break these Iceplates, you willhave to knock Jin Dahaad onto its side by breaking wounds, or jump onto its back to mount it.Unless you have a ranged weapon, it’s extremely difficult to target each Iceplate and break through its hard defenses while it is standing up.
The main Jin Dahaad attack that playersmust absolutely avoid is its arena-spanning ice explosion. Throughout the battle, the Jin Dahaad will curl up and draw in ice around itself to create a hard shell, which will then explode across the entire arena for an absolutely enormous amount of damage – usually enough toone-shot unprepared hunters.
To avoid the Jin Dahaad’s most deadly move, you must find cover. Every time the monster uses this movea small ice block will form somewhere around the arena. You must hop on your Seikret andmake it behind this ice block before the explosion happens. As the ice radiates out from the boss, the cover will slowly be destroyed, but you’ll be safe from harm.
Jin Dahaad is a terrifying, huge monster with a lot more attacks to avoid. At any time it canrear back and blast you with Ice breath, no matter where you are (under the boss, at its tail, by its leg, etc). You have a few seconds once it starts charging its ice breath to get out of the area.
While underneath Jin Dahaad, it may stomp on you with its fore and hind legs and deal an explosion of Ice damage. If you see it lift its leg, quickly evade to the opposite leg to avoid taking damage.
When the boss moves to other locations within Iceshard Cliffs, it willclimb atop large environmental objects and blast down horizontal lines of ice breath. Mount your Seikret to avoid these attacks easily, thenpull the Giant Frozen Pillar it is standing on after the third breath attack. You cannotdrop the boss with this trapbefore its third breath attack.
