The reveal of these mobs demonstrated not only how fans can get one for themselves, but also showed what thesenewMinecraftmobsbring to the table. The Ghast variant, in particular, was a highlight of the show, and it is in line with Mojang’s recent updates, which have been rather focused on mobs and the Overworld.
The Happy Ghasts are cute rideable pets, and they pose yet another reason for fans to brave the hellish Nether. The process of acquiring one isn’t difficult either, which means players will soon have another mob tugging on their heartstrings and nudging them up, up, and away to adventure. And for those interested in lore, this newMinecraftmob will also help bring certain theories about the Nether, if not the Overworld, to life.

Ghastlings are pretty cute creatures, and they have baby-like behavior, following players and bumping into them until they get bored. Meanwhile, Happy Ghasts are exactly what their name suggests: smiling, rideable versions of the standard, fireball-spitting Ghasts from the Nether.
Once players have a Happy Ghast, they should keep them leashed, as they have a tendency to fly away like the massive balloons they are. To make things more interesting, and perhaps as a nod toPiglins using Ghasts as airships inA Minecraft Movie, fans can put saddles on the Happy Ghasts and fly them into the sunset. This will be especially great once theMinecraftVibrant Visuals graphics upgrade drops and the blocky visuals are significantly enhanced.
From what’s currently known, four players can ride together, although only the one at the center can control the Happy Ghast. The saddle also gives the mob flying goggles, which are “down and equipped” once someone is riding the Happy Ghast. But there’s more to it: at any time during the flight, players can disengage with the Happy Ghast, letting it float as a stationary platform while they interact with other players, fight, or even build. This particular aspect makes Happy Ghasts wonderful for constructingmega builds inMinecraft, essentially bringing a Creative level of ease to the Survival mode.
Minecraft’s Happy Ghasts Set the Path for New Mobs Going Forward
NewMinecraftmobs, or even new variants of old mobs, could help flesh out the blocky sandbox. At present, there are several areas where the world could be improved, and even enhanced, with some new blood. For example, the Happy Ghasts fix a key gap in the Overworld, as they allow players to fly around with friends without having to deal with the tediousness ofgetting an Elytra inMinecraft. This approach to filling gaps could be replicated with other mobs, and there could be a new Piglin leader mob that allies itself and its followers with the player, a lost creature that rewards unique loot on being returned to its family in a big End City, and even more.
There’s another place where a new mob could help: underwater travel. The Caves and Cliffs update massively increased the world height and depth, which means traveling deeper underwater is a great task.Dolphins did changeMinecraftforever with their speed, but they aren’t always available. This issue could be resolved if Mojang were to add a mob, say smaller water dragons, that players could find in Ocean Monuments and Ruins and tame with items and leashes. These mobs could then serve as wonderful, dangerous water companions that could help players explore the underwater world and even clear hostile structures.
New Minecraft Mobs Could Help Flesh Out The Lore
The sandbox’s lore is vague and there are a lot of gaps. Aside from killing the Ender Dragon, there’s no real “campaign,” and there’s a lack of a dedicated story. The introduction of new structures and mobs could address this lack,adding more life and lore toMinecraft. The presence of Ghastlings and Happy Ghasts in the Overworld, for example, could mean that the mob isn’t native to the Nether, and it was instead forced into being the fireball-spitting version with which players are familiar. It could also mean that the Nether was different at some point, prompting questions about how it became the hellish dimension it is now. If a Piglin leader mob was introduced, it could help add further to the Nether’s lore.
A new mob inMinecraft’s End dimension could help players understand why it’s so barren and provide hints about how things were before the Ender Dragon took over. A water dragon, like the one mentioned earlier, could also tie into pieces of lore about where the Ender Dragon came from and, perhaps, even provide some background details abou the Drowned, the Elder Guardians, and the Ocean Monuments. It could also help expand the current archaeological system toMinecraft’s ocean biomes, thereby adding incentive for exploration. Overall,Minecraft’s new Happy Ghast and Ghastling mobs could hold the key to its next evolution, adding more life to the game and its story.
