Diamond Quest is a single-player mode withinMLB The Show 25’s Diamond Dynasty that gives players the opportunity to earn a variety of exclusive rewards. Some players may find the mode a bit confusing, though, as it has never appeared in the series before. This guide is written with those players in mind, and explains how to approach the Diamond Quest game mode inMLB The Show 25.
Diamond Quest is aroguelike mode. This means that any Perks or Penalties that are earned during a quest willnot be maintainedafter it is won or lost. Additionally, any Peanuts that a player collects willdisappearat the end of a quest.
MLB The Show 25: Diamond Quest Basics
Reward Selection
The very first thing thatMLB The Showplayerswill do upon entering the Diamond Quest game mode is pick the specific quest that they wish to pursue. While the way that the different quests unfold is largely identical, in terms of gameplay, theRare and Epic rewardsthat they can provide are not. As such, players should look through the quests that are on offer, and pick the one that leads to the Rare and Epic rewards that are of interest.
To have a chance at earning those Rare and Epic rewards, players will need towin a stadium challenge, a 3-inning game, at the end of the Diamond Quest. The odds of receiving the rewards are connected to thedifficultythat the player selects when initiating the stadium challenge, and players can see the base percentages associated with each difficulty by pressing the “See Reward Breakdown” input that appears at the bottom of the screen during quest selection. For example, players may have a 2% chance of receiving an Epic reward if they select Rookie when taking on the stadium challenge, while they could have a 70% chance if they select G.O.A.T.
Assessing the Game Board
After selecting a Diamond Quest, and confirming a squad comprised ofDiamond Dynasty cards, players will be taken to a randomized game board with one or twostadium tiles, depending on the quest that was selected. These tiles are where the aforementioned stadium challenges occur, and players can highlight them to see exactly what rewards the stadiums provide.
Moving Around the Game Board
Players must now work to move theDiamond Dynasty Iconto the stadium tile that has the chance to provide the most desirable rewards. To move the icon, players must simplyroll the diceat the bottom of the screen and then select tiles that are adjacent to the icon. Players should be careful about coming into contact with theZone Sweeper, the evil-looking baseball, while moving, as doing so will initiate a Legend challenge that can be quite difficult to win. Fortunately, the Zone Sweeper’s movement is predictable, making it easy to avoid.
If a player is confident that they can win a Legend challenge, they should feel free to try engaging the Zone Sweeper. Players can see the rewards and penalties associated with the challenge by highlighting the Zone Sweeper on the game board.
As players move across the empty tiles that are between their starting position and a stadium, several things will occur:
Opponent Challenges & Mini Boss Showdowns
Players may initiate an Opponent Challenge or Mini Boss Showdown when they land on an empty green tile, and these events will task players with performing a variety of actions, like tallying stats and taking the lead. If a player wins the event, thechance of receiving the quest’s Rare and Epic rewards is increasedby 3%, and there is even a possibility that it will increase by 6%. Additionally, winning an event grants a Perk, buffs that will make the eventual stadium challenge easier to win, while losing an event grants a Penalty, which will make things more difficult.
Penalties expire after subsequent events are completed, while Perks are maintained for the entirety of the current quest.
While it is not mandatory that players play these events, as they are given a forfeit option, it is recommended that they at least attempt to win every event that they encounter. Indeed, players will definitely want to increase their chances at earning Rare and Epic rewards at the end of the quest, especially if they will be playing the stadium challenge on a lower difficulty. The Perks that can be earned are also very important, as they can provide significant advantages. Moreover, apack for Diamond Dynastymay be added to the quest’s prize pool upon winning an event, and players will receive it if they win the stadium challenge at the end.
Perks
Some empty green tiles will award a Perk directly, just like the ones that can be earned by winning Opponent Challenges and Mini Boss Showdowns.
Peanuts & Coach’s Cart
Players will occasionally receive Peanuts upon landing on an empty tile. This currency can be used to purchase Perks from the Coach’s Cart, a shop that is hidden in one of the empty tiles on the board.
Stadium Challenge
After passing over the empty tiles and arriving at the targeted stadium, players should select a difficulty that they are very confident about. Indeed, while it can be tempting to go for a high-difficulty stadium challenge, as they provide much better chances of getting Rare and Epic rewards, players will not receive anything if they lose the 3-inning game, including any packs that they may have earned from events. Players must then win the game to beat the Diamond Quest and claim their rewards.
MLB The Show 25: Diamond Quest Strategy
Players should now have a basic understanding of what is going on during a Diamond Quest, and they can use that understanding to inform how they approach the mode. That said, here is a general strategy that players should keep in mind when taking on their first Diamond Quests:
