Where to Find Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds (Location)
Rey Dauis a massive Flying Wyvern-type monster that you first encounter during the Chapter 2 main story mission’The Eye of the Storm', after arriving inOilwell Basinand taking down Rompopolo. The quest briefly backtracks you to theWindward Plains, where you need to face off against Rey Dau at its lair aroundArea 16 and 17.

How to Beat Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds
Rey Dau is the first flying wyvern hunt that you get to take on fairly early in the game, and it’s not a pushover if the cutscene of it fending off the White Wraith is any proof. This is a fight that you want to prepare as well as you may for, in terms of knowing how to exploit its weaknesses and predict its mixture of ground and aerial attacks.
Recommended Gear and Weapons Against Rey Dau
First off, Rey Dau isweak against the elements Water and Ice, so crafting and equipping any weapons you can with either element is recommended. Your likely bet is awater-type weapon from Uth Dunaback in the Scarlet Forest. If you’re playing solo and have the opportunity to do so, you should try and grind for one to make your damage output more efficient.
Rey Dau is also susceptible tostatus ailmentssuch aspoison, paralysis, and blastblight, so ranged weapons with various types of ammo can also prove useful against it. Vice versa, bring recovery items such asNulberriesto help you recover from Thunderblight.

Rey Dau Attacks and Weak Points
Since Rey Dau is a flying wyvern, its attacks feature a mix of ground-level and aerial attacks, so staying vigilant throughout this fight is imperative. It also harnesses powerful thunder energy in many of its attacks, which you need to try and steer clear of to avoid massive damage and Thunderblight.

While avoiding all of these attacks, it’s important to make note of Rey Dau’sweak points, which include itsHead, Wings, and its Tail. The first two can be broken while the latter can be severed and carved for items separately.
You’ll want to focus your attacks at these points as much as possible, and alsoinflict Wounds where you can. These can further supplement Rey Dau’s weak points, allowing you to deal more damage. Destroying wounds not only staggers and further weakens monsters, it can also lead to more rewards at the end of the battle. It’s easiest to see what wounds you’ve inflicted by using your Focus Mode.
Finally,make use of the environmentaround you when you can, such as falling Boulders from overhead. These can stop Rey Dau in its tracks and prohibit it from taking flight, at least temporarily. Flash and Frostburst Pods are also surprisingly effective at stunning it.
