There are five fishing side missions inMonster Hunter Wilds, the last of which is called Razzle Dazzle and requires players to catch a Grand Escunite. It becomes available once they’ve completed the Lurking Shadows main story mission in Chapter 4, though only after they’re done withThe Catch of a Lifetime.
To start the quest, players will once again need to speak with Kanya at the Scarlet Forest base camp, which will result in her handing over a Tentacle Jig and sending them on their way. Thankfully,Monster Hunter Wildsplayers won’t have to travel too far to find a Grand Esunite, as they’re found exclusively in the forest.
Where to Find a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds (Grand Escunite Location)
To find a Grand Escunite, players should make their way tothe underground cave to the north of the number 8 marker in the Scarlet Forest, the entrance to which is hidden behind a waterfall. If they visited this cave earlier tocatch a Goldenfish, they may already have set up a base camp, in which case, they can fast travel there instantly. Once they arrive, they should dive into the water andswim over to the platform at the back of the caveandlook for a turquoise-colored sea creature.
Some players have reported having better luck finding a Grand Escunite during evening and nighttime hours, so anybody who’s really struggling to find one may want to tryresting at a nearby pop-up camp to advance time.
How to Catch a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds
Players hoping to catch a Grand Escunite shoulduse the Tentacle Jigthat Kanya gave them at the beginning of the quest. As was the case inthe Fishing for Flavor side mission, they’ll need to jiggle the lure a little to get the fish interested. The Grand Escunite will poke its head out of the water just before taking a bite which can make it difficult to tell when it’s actually on the line, so players should be sure to wait until its tentacles start pulling the lure before reeling it in.
Razzle Dazzle Rewards
After they’ve managed to catch a Grand Escunite, players should head back and speak with Kanya at the Scarlet Forest base camp. The resulting cut scene is a bit longer than usual, but once it ends, players will be rewarded withfiveJeweled Mullet Roe,threeGunpowderfish Scale, twoWhetfish Fin, andfiveSushifish Scale. They’ll also get300 Guild Points, which should come in handy for those attempting toincrease their Hunter Rankand progress the main story.
