Shoto is the youngest son of Endeavor, who was the Number 2 Hero for most of the story. While this may seem like a good background at first,Shoto had a traumatic childhood. His father, who controls fire, married his mother, who controls ice, because he wanted to create “the perfect hero,” a child who would be able to manage both fire and ice.
Before Shoto, thecouple had three children, but as none of them were what Endeavor wanted, he kept trying until Shoto was born. Even though Endeavor finally got the “child of his dreams,” he treated Shoto horribly, aseverything was about training and learning to use his Quirks.
Shoto was forced to undergo exhaustive training sessions, and his father punished him severely when he failed. The treatment was so bad that Shoto started to hate Endeavor and refused to use his fire abilities, focusing only on the powers he inherited from his mother.
Raising me as a hero who could exceed All Might, just to fulfill his own ambitions. I hate it! Being no more than a tool for that human garbage. As I remember it, mom was always crying… “I can’t stand to see that left side of yours”… she said, before throwing scalding water in my face.

Itwas not only Shoto who was mistreated. His father also neglected his brothers because they were not what he wanted them to be. Not even his mother, Rei, escaped the abuses. She tried to stop Endeavor from forcing Shoto to train in dangerous and exhausting ways, which led to abuses that affected her mental health.
One day, she had an outburst in which she mistook Shoto for his father and threw boiling water in his face. That is the reason why he has that burn mark on his face.
Because of his complicated past,he is cold at the beginning of the story, but as it progressed, he opened himself more and faced his trauma. Due to his previous strict training routine, Shoto was also one of the elite students at school, but he always felt like a shadow of his father’s popularity.

The Current Number 2 Hero
The epilogue ofMy Hero Academiashows what has happened to the characters in the years following the Final War. Unfortunately, one of Shoto’s brothers, Toya Todoroki,was badly injured and died.
AsShoto played a major role in the final arc, he gathered many fans, and is now seen as a Hero in his own right, and not just because he is Endeavor’s son. Nonetheless, he took over the agency of his now-retired father. Because Shoto behaves well enough, he has been able to claim the second spot on Japan’s Hero Billboard Chart.
Shoto was able to rank high not only due to his skills, but also because the rank takes into account the general popularity and other things, like the number of cases solved. Bakugo and Shoto, who both fought in the Final War and both served as an inspiration to the younger generations, are ranked quite differently as a result:while Shoto is Number 2, Bakugo is Number 15 because his explosive behavior is seen as problematic and erratic by many people.
Although Shoto has a high ranking, he doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in becoming Number 1. On the contrary, he seems to have grown a lot and realized that there are many more important things in life. Shoto has also found the meaning of having loved ones around him.
