Summary

WhileMillie Bobby Brown has played several characters, her impressive turn as Eleven onNetflix’sStranger Thingsis almost coming to an end. When fans met Eleven inStranger Thingsseason 1, which aired in 2016, she was a confused and lost kid who ran away from the evil Hawkins Lab. Now she’s older and wiser, but just as charming and likable, and about to face the fight of her life.

WhenStranger Thingsseason 5 is on the streaming service at some point in 2025, fans will be prepared for arough battle between The Party and Vecna (Jamie Campbell Brown). But sincethe Duffer Brothers have mentioned someStranger Thingsspinoffsfor a while now, viewers have been thinking about who they could be about and what could take place. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos recently gave an interview and talked about the future of the hit show, which

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos Mentioned The Future Of Stranger Things

In an interview withVariety,Ted Sarandostalked about “the return of our biggest franchises” on Netflix in 2025 such asStranger Thingsseason 5. He said:

“SoStranger Things, I believe, is a gigantic universe — you see it in novelizations of the characters now. You see it in consumer products. You see it in the live stage show, the prequelStranger Things: The First Shadow. That’s just playing hugely successfully on the West End, and it’s going to be opening on Broadway.”

Since Sarandos called the show “a gigantic universe,“does that mean there could be a few differentStranger Thingsspinoffs?Fans have heardthe Duffer Brothers are working on an animated and a live-actionStranger Thingsspinoff, andfans enjoy sharing their spinoff ideasand trying to guess what they could be. Perhaps there will be three or even four futureStranger Thingsspinoffs. No one would complain about spending even more time in Hawkins, Indiana or, perhaps, a new location that hasn’t been explored yet.

Back in 2021, Sarandos mentioned potential spinoffs at the Code Conference that was held in Beverly Hills, California. According toDeadline, he calledStranger Things"a franchise being born"and explained:

“Franchises are good, but what you want are hits.”

Since theStranger Thingsratings and reviews have been consistently high since the first season premiered in 2016, there’s no reason not to think that the show could have a “gigantic universe,” as Sarandos said. While fans are invested in these characters, they would likely be on board with new characters, too. Every once in a while, a show breaks out the way thatStranger Thingshas, and there’s no doubt it’s one of the most beloved shows that has ever been released on Netflix.

What Could The Stranger Things Spinoffs Be About?Considering how successfulStranger Thingshas been, it’s hard to imagine that the fifth season would truly be the end. SincetheStranger Thingsworld is well-crafted, entertaining, and scary, so many new stories could be told.

According toVariety, in 2022, the Duffer Brothers said on the podcastHappy Sad ConfusedthattheStranger Thingsspinoff won’t be focused on Eleven. Even thoughEleven will definitely be the focal point ofStranger Thingsseason 5, her story will likely end there. While fans might be disappointed to hear that since she’s such a fascinating, layered, and innocent yet tough character, there are so many other tales for the spinoff to tell. Perhaps it will be set in Hawkins, Indiana but will focus onnewcharacters who find themselves facingthe creatures of the Upside Downseveral years before Will Byers and his friends. Since the Duffer Brothers have such a knack for crafting smart, funny, and vulnerable yet strong characters, fans would no doubt be drawn to these new people and want to watch more of them.

It’s also possible thatthe playStranger Things: The First Shadowcould be turned into a prequel TV series. The play features familiar characters such as James/Jim Hopper, Joyce Maldonado, Dr. Brenner, Henry Creel, Victor Creel, and Bob Newby, and focuses on the events beforeStranger Thingsseason 1.Familiar locations from the original showare included as well, including the Hawkins National Lab. Adapting this for Netflix would be a great idea as the play has gotten rave reviews, and it would befun to see what this origin story could look like.
