Another franchise entry has now been announced in the form ofEverybody’s Golf: Hot Shots, with its reveal trailer premiering during theMarch 27 Nintendo Direct. The game revives theHot Shots Golfbranding, which was previously exclusively used in North America until 2011, whereas the rest of the world knew the series asEverybody’s Golf. This will be the first-ever installment in the franchise to be available on a Nintendo console, as well as the firstHot Shots Golfgame from Japanese studio Hyde, the developer ofDigimon Survive.

An Increasing Number of PlayStation Franchises Are Coming to the Switch

Another series first concerns the game’s distribution, as its predecessors have been exclusivelypublished by Sony Interactive Entertainment. In contrast,Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shotswill be published by Bandai Namco, who licensed the IP from Sony. Bandai Namco has already brought one PlayStation franchise to the Switch in January 2025, when it releasedFreedom Wars Remastered. This wasn’t the first PlayStation IP to debut on Nintendo’s hybrid console, as it arrived two months followingLEGO Horizon Adventures.

2025

Even morePlayStation games are coming to the Switch, also courtesy of Bandai Namco. The March 27 Nintendo Direct saw the publisher announcePatapon 1+2 Replay, a remastered collection of the first two entries in Sony’s PSP rhythm game series. LikeEverybody’s Golf: Hot Shots,Patapon 1+2 Replayis planned to simultaneously release on the PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC. However, it already has a release date, whereas Hyde’s golf game is still waiting for one.

Although the upcoming PlayStation franchises that are making the jump to the Switch won’t do so under Sony’s publishing umbrella, it seems that the company is still becoming more open to the idea of bringing games to Nintendo’s console. Sony still isn’t going so far as to release any of its titles on Xbox—presumably because it continues to see Microsoft—despite poor Xbox hardware sales—as a direct rival. No pricing details have yet been given forEverybody’s Golf: Hot Shots, though it’s plausible that the upcoming title will be a full-priced game. The upcoming title can already be wishlisted on Steam and the PlayStation Store, while its eShop page has yet to go live as of late March 2025.
