Summary

ThroughoutOne Piece, Oda has always put heavy importance on the dreams of the Straw Hat Pirates. Since the beginning of the series, each of the Straw Hats has always had a specific goal they wished to accomplish as a pirate; something incredibly difficult that seems nearly impossible to accomplish. Between Zoro’s dream of becoming the strongest swordsman and Sanji’s dream to find the mythical All Blue, these lofty dreams have acted as the primary motivation of the Straw Hats inOne Piecefor years now.

However, in the modern story ofOne Piece, it seems the dreams of the Straw Hats have taken a backseat to the more intense plots of the post-time skip story. That is, of course, until one of the more recent chapters of the story, when one of the Straw Hats finally acknowledges that they have officially achieved a large part of their overall dream. While this may seem small, this moment shows that the Straw Hats haven’t forgotten their goals, giving fans an opportunity, after over 25 years, to finally see aStraw Hat achieve part of their dreaminOne Piece.

Usopp Wants To Be A Brave Warrior Of The Sea In One Piece

He Wants To Visit The Giant Home Of Elbaf As Well

Since the early days ofOne Piece, the cowardly sniper of the Straw Hat Crew, Usopp, has always wanted to become a brave warrior of the sea. However, compared to the clear-cut goals of the other Straw Hats, like becomingOne Piece’sPirate Kingor mapping out the entire world, Usopp’s goal always seemed fairly ambiguous. Without a defined ending, Usopp’s dream will come true when he believes that he is a true warrior of the sea.

However, Usopp’s dream inOne Piecewas given some actual direction when he met the giantsDorry and Brogy in Little Garden. After learning of the giants, a race of massive and powerful warriors that fight bravely and with a strict and honorable code, Usopp quickly felt a connection with them. In many ways, Usopp looked up to the giants as the ideal warriors of the sea. If Usopp were to become like the giants, he would complete his lifelong dream as a pirate.

Usopp Accomplished His Goal Of Finding Elbaf

He’s The First Straw Hat To Accomplish A Major Goal

From here, Usopp resolved that a major step in his dream would be to visit the homeland of the giants inOne Piece, the island of Elbaf. Of course, as many fans already know, towards the beginning ofthe Elbaf Arc ofOne Piece, Usopp actually accomplished this dream and was able to witness the kingdom of the giants. Although the island wasn’t exactly what he pictured, with the former king attempting to change their society’s culture to something less warlike, Usopp was very happy to see the place he had always dreamed of.

Officially, inChapter 1141 ofOne Piece, Nami directly mentions how big of an accomplishment arriving at Elbaf is for Usopp, acknowledging that a Straw Hat actually achieved part of their dream. While Usopp is excitedly celebrating with the giants, Nami mentions to Jinbe that it has always been Usopp’s lifelong dream to visit this place. For many fans, this simple line was a nice reminder that the dreams of the Straw Hats inOne Pieceare still vital parts of the story.
