One Piece, Chapter 1142, “What I’m Afraid Of”

Ever since the start of the Elbaf arc, fans have been treated to massive amounts of mystery and intrigue one chapter after another. The reveals in this arc have been so important to the overall lore ofOne Piecethat, despite seemingly still being in its infancy, fans already believe it to beamong the best arcs in the entire series, since each new chapter has somehow been better than the one that came before it.

One of the biggest points of interest regarding Elbaf was teased at the very start of the arc, which was the nature of Loki’s Devil Fruit. Many consider this to be the greatest secret of the island since it is yet another God Fruit that the Giants believe gives Loki the ability to become a Sun God with unparalleled destructive power. This was a huge reveal, considering fans had only known about Luffy’s Nika fruit as the one that’s synonymous with the powers of a Sun God, so the rumors surrounding Loki’s fruit changed everything.

I am the Sun God who will bring about the end of the world!

What was previously known as a power that allowed the user to become a deity of liberation eventually turned into the exact opposite. At the time of writing, the true nature of Loki’s fruit is still a mystery, but the consensus among the Giants of the island is that it has the potential to wreak unequaled havoc across the world, something which almostled to the destruction of Elbafsometime before the start of the arc. However, despite the hype surrounding this fruit, the Harley Texts and the Elbaf mural are perhaps the greatest secrets of the island.

It is well known that the pursuit of any knowledge regarding the Void Century is strictly outlawed by the World Government, which is the main reason why most people barely even know of it. However, due to Elbaf being an unconquered island, they’ve retained much of the knowledge of what happened 800 years ago, which exists in the form of the Harley Texts and the mural on the Adam Tree.

While vague, these accounts tell of the existence of the previous two worlds and their subsequent destruction. There is also a rather ominous account of what will happen in the Third World as portents for the future hint at a destructive war and the freedom ofall subjugated peoples by Nika. The World Government has worked tirelessly to keep this information under wraps, so because of this knowledge, Elbaf remains one of its fiercest obstacles.

There is much more that gives fans reason to raise their brows, some of the biggest of which is the appearance of the many special weapons here. Due to being known as the ‘birthplace of war’, Elbaf was always going to have some important armaments, but with the appearance of Loki’s Ragnir and the gigantic sword sticking out of the land itself, most believe that this land has something special relating to weapons, which hints at the fact that there may soon be another Supreme Grade Weapon that is revealed.

A Special Arc For One Of The Straw Hats

How This Arc Could Be Usopp’s Time To Shine

With the reveal of the land of Giants in the Little Garden arc, Oda had always hinted at the fact that it was Usopp who had a special relation with the Giants and the land itself, since his dream is heavily influenced by them. Although it is purely speculation, many fans believe thatthis arc is where Usopp will finally shine, perhaps due to a specific Devil Fruit power that he may get that fulfills his dream of becoming a brave warrior of the sea.

The nature of this fruit is a mystery, though a great theory states that it will be a Mythical Zoan Type called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Giant. Not only would this bring Usopp’s arc perfectly full circle, but it would also mark him as the first of the Straw Hats to fulfill his dream by quite literally becoming a brave warrior of the sea, both in concept and reality.
