With the Final SagaofOne Pieceupon the fans already, it is no surprise that Oda is diving deeper into the bigger mysteries of the world, such as the true identity of the one pulling the strings of the World Government from behind the shadows, Imu. So far, fans only know bits about Imu and the powers that they possess.
However, bit by bit, Oda is most certainly going to reveal all their secrets. It goes without saying that one of the biggest mysteries surrounding Imu is the fact that they possess tremendous powers, which seemingly include multiple Devil Fruit powers, and the ability to freely distribute them among their fellow members of the Celestial Dragons. The truth about this isn’t fully known, but Oda has certainly dropped a few hints already.
Imu’s Immortality Has Been Confirmed
If there’s one thing about Imu that Oda has already confirmed, it is the fact that they’re immortal. Imu was most likely born during the era of the Void Century, meaning they’re a relic from the Second World of One Piece. They were born as a ruler of the Nerona Family and they most likely held territory somewhere to rule. When the Ancient Kingdom and their advancements became an issue, Imu of the Nerona Family then joined hands with 19 other monarchs and together, they decided to attack the Ancient Kingdom.

This led to a war that saw the three Ancient Weapons being used and the world utterly destroyed over the course of 100 years. Across this 100-year war, the sea levels rose by 200 meters, and a massive part of the world sank completely. Meanwhile, Joy Boy died and the Ancient Kingdom also fell. This eventually led to the creation of a whole new world order, where the monarchs who had joined together ended up creating the World Government. Somehow, Imu ended up becoming the secret ruler ofthe world and the Five Elderseven bowed down to them.
Since then, Imu has been alive and it was recently speculated by Ivankov that Imu had the Perennial Youth Survey performed on them to ensure such immense longevity. This could directly be tied to their main powers.
Imu Has Access To Multiple Powers
Imu Can Grant Devil Fruit Abilities
Imu’s main Devil Fruit ability was revealed to the fans inOne Piece’sEgghead arc, when Sabo finally made it to Momoiro Island and revealed his side of the story to Dragon and the other commanders. It was clear to see in the flashback that all the Elders possessed dangerous transformations, and at the same time, Imu possesses the most dangerous one of them all.
At the moment, Imu’s powers aren’t known, but based on the naming system of The Five Elders on planets of the solar system, Luffy on the Sun, and Garling on the moon, the only celestial body that Imu can represent is the Earth, of the Blue Star. Imu most definitely has the power of a deity.

It is likely that Imu is the Earth God but withthe power of the Devil itself. This would explain how Imu is a step above the rest. More importantly, this would also explain why Imu has the power to distribute Devil Fruit powers among others. For instance, Imu gave the Five Elders their powers and this was proven when they stripped Saturn of his immortality and killed him. Similarly, Imu used the power of the Aro Aro no Mi, but this fruit belongs to none other than Gunko.
Why Imu Can Hold Many Devil Fruits
Imu Is An Immortal God
As the Earth God and Devil, Imu should be able to gain access to Devil Fruit powers, but normally, he shouldn’t be able to hold multiple powers. But, given that Imu is immortal, likely dueto the Ope Ope no Mi, it makes sense that they cannot die and can thus hold and bestow powers to others.
How exactly Imu does this isn’t fully known, but it most certainly has to dowith their Earth God powersand the fact that they’re immortal and cannot die by holding multiple powers.
