One Piece’sEgghead arc introduced fans to an Iron Giant from the Void Century. This Iron Giant was extremely important in the arc, largely because it was down to this Iron Giant that the Straw Hat Pirates were even able to leave the island in the first place. However, at the end of the arc, the Iron Giant shut down following the massive blast of Conqueror’s Haki that it unleashed from Joy Boy. At the time, fans were made aware of the fact that the Iron Giant is named Emet, and that it was a close friend of Joy Boy. Unfortunately, the two were separated due to Joy Boy’s eventual death.

Now, inOne PieceChapter 1144, Oda has introduced fans to another Giant, this time, from an era long before the Void Century. While Emet existed 900 years ago, which is when it was likely built, the new Ancient Giant is from an era 3000 years ago. In other words,the Ancient Iron Giant resting in Elbafright now is none other than a figure from the First World.
As fans know, the world of One Piece has been destroyed twice before. The first destruction came after the First World. This was when the Earth God and the Serpent of Hellfire together destroyed the world after Nika’s emergence.
In the Second World, which was 900 years ago, life came back once again, and this time around the Ancient Kingdom ended up becoming the hub of advancements. 20 rulers banded against it and eventually, a great war was fought, which saw the destruction of the kingdom and the death of Joy Boy.
Right now,One Pieceis in the Third World, yet relics from the bygone times remain.Franky and Ripley together came across the Iron Giant from 3000 years ago, which looks like a base for a scientific facility, inOne Piecechapter 1144, and its meaning is clear.

It is clear now thatevery Sun God that existedinOne Piecewas tied to an Iron Giant. For instance, fans know that Emet was tied to Joy Joy and was always by his side. Joy Boy eventually died, but not before fighting alongside Emet. Emet even apologized to Joy Boy for not being able to make him King.

Now, fans know that the Third Sun God, Luffy, must also have his own Iron Giant, and he already acquired one long ago. Luffy’s Iron Giant is none other than the cyborg, Franky.
Franky Has A Big Role To Play In The Future
Just like Joy Boy and Nika had their own Iron Giants,Luffy will have Franky by his side in the Final War, trying to make him King. This means fans should expect major growth from Franky in the upcoming arcs. Right now, Franky isn’t on the same level as the Iron Giant Emet, but in the future, Franky could be powered by the Drums of Liberation instead of Cola, just like Emet was. This would make Franky the true representation of the Iron Giant of this era, and unlike the last two Iron Giants, Franky will not fail.
