One Pieceis currently in its Final Saga, which kickstartedwith the Egghead Arc. This saga has been absolutely phenomenal and fans know that there’s much more to come, especially now that the manga is in the Elbaf arc. With Elbaf well and truly underway and some very exciting bits and pieces of information being revealed, it was only a matter of time before Oda started revealing exciting lore.
He’s already done that through some very exciting chapters, but as always, also through the SBS corner. One PieceVolume 111 is officially out, and with that, fans know a lot more about the whole world that Oda created. Specifically, Oda went on to reveal the name of the planet that One Piece is set in, and it certainly raises some very exciting and intriguing ideas. Of course, Oda didn’t go in great depth, as is expected of an SBS corner, but it most certainly gives fans an idea of what to expect from the world lore in the future.
The One Piece Planet As Fans Know It
When it comes to the One Piece world, fans know that the story is set on a massive planet that resembles the Earth to a certain extent. While there is a resemblance, it isn’t exactly the same. The planet of the One Piece world seems massive, and more than that, it is far more blue in comparison. This planet has a strip of land running through it, and fans know this to be the Red Line. The Red Line is actually a massive continent, it runs across the planet, making a full circle. It is actually made up of multiple Islands, each with its own weather and seasons,as was revealed by NamiinOne Piecechapter 604.
We call this Vearth. For us, it will forever be admiration itself. — Conis
Because of the Red Line, the world itself is split into two parts. But, there’s more. There are also two thin strips of ocean running perpendicular to the Red Line and they are the Calm Belts. No winds blow in the Calm Belts and they’re known to be the lair of Sea Kings. Between the Calm Belts is the most erratic and dangerous sea known to ever exist, the Grand Line, which in itself is split into two parts. There’s the Paradise half, which is where entry into the Red Line is made through the Reverse Mountain, and there’s the New World, which is ruled by the Emperors of the Sea.
Because of the Grand Line, the world is essentially split into four parts, and they are the East Blue, the West Blue, the North Blue, and the South Blue. The are islands all over the One Piece world, but the vast majority of it is covered with oceans, making it a very unique-looking world.
Oda Reveals The Name Of The One Piece Planet
The One Piece Planet Is Named The Blue Planet/Star
It isn’t surprising to know that the world ofOne Piecehas its own name. In fact, this was actually hinted at long ago in the story, although not exactly in the manga, but in a cover story. Now,Oda has essentially gone ahead and cleared all doubtsthat fans ever had and revealed the name of the planet to the fans. Here’s what Oda had to say inOne PieceVolume 111:
QUESTION: Odacchi, hello! In Chapter 987 was the bridge that the Roger Pirates and Oden saw Tequila Wolf? or Bourbon Wolf? And what is the name of the planet that Luffy and the others are adventuring?
EIICHIRO ODA: NNN!! What?! You’re focusing on that?! Uuuh, the planet is called “Blue Planet”. And the bridge that Oden saw… It’s Not “Tequila Wolf”!! How did I know that? I won’t say it’s “Bourbon Wolf”. But it’s not “Tequila Wolf”. That’s my answer!! We find out there are 4 bridges in Chapter 1125, so there’s no way you could know that in Chapter 967. But looking back, why did I think so? Amazing.
As is clear from Oda’s own words, theOne Pieceworld had a unique name, and it is called the Blue Star/Planet. Fans can assume that this world is somewhat different from the Earth, as is clear from its geography. At the same time, it can also be said that extraterrestrial life is now confirmed to exist inOne Piece, not that there was ever much doubt to begin with. Fans can now also say without any doubts that the planet thatwas being discussed in Enel’s cover storywas the same one that the story is set in.
The History Of The Blue Star In One Piece
The Winged Races Descended Upon The Earth From The Moon
Fans who have readOne Piecediligently know that the Winged Races are actually extraterrestrial beings and not natural inhabitants of the Blue Star. The Winged Races come from the moon, more specifically a city called Birka. However, after resources on the moon ran out for them, they set their eyes on the Blue Star, and descended down. The Winged Races settled in different parts of the world and they brought with them the immense technology that they possessed on the moon. The Shandians settled on the Blue Sea, while the Skypeians livedon an island called Skypiea, and the Birkans settled on a Sky Island called Birka, which they named after the city on the moon.
Enel came from the Sky Island called Birka, 6 years ago. — White Beret’s Captain
Unfortunately, Birka was eventually destroyed 8 years ago by Enel, after he consumed his Devil Fruit. He then went to the moon, what he called Fairy Vearth, where he uncovered the secrets of the past and his own ancestors, understanding the truth about the whole world in the process.
Meanwhile, more lore about the Blue Starwas revealed in the Elbaf arc, where it was clearly stated that the world had actually been destroyed twice before, once during the Void Century, and once long before it. Meanwhile, Vegapunk suggested in Egghead that the world was sunk 200 m under the ocean during the Void Century and that there were far too many masses of land long ago. Clearly, the One Piece world is a bug mystery the secrets of which lie in the First and the Second Worlds, and hopefully, Oda will elaborate upon them soon enough, potentially in the Elbaf arc, or maybe after it, uncovering the whole truth as Luffy and the crew get closer to it.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1141, is set to be May 25, 2025.
