After the conclusion of the Wano Country Arc,One Pieceofficially entered the Final Saga, and fans have been extremely excited to see what Oda delivers here. According to Oda himself, the final saga is the most exciting part ofOne Pieceand one that will feature events that will make even Marineford look like it was trivial. In the Final Saga, the goal is clear and that is to claim theOne Piece.
There is an absolutely massive race going on here, with the Four Emperors, the World Government, and now, even the Navy competing in the race for theOne Piece. Things are going to be incredibly exciting and most fans believe that even after theOne Pieceis found, there is a larger story to tell. This makes sense based on what Oda has stated in his story previously, but now, Oda has revealed what he thinks will happen after theOne Pieceis found. Undoubtedly, the statement from the author is somewhat shocking.
One Piece Has Stood The Test Of Time
One Piece has proven to be an incredibly long-running series, and based on how the story is going now, it is clear that the series still has some ways to go.One Piecewas originally supposed to run just for 5 years. According to Oda, the story was about Luffy’s fight against the Four Emperors, and that was about it. However, with each arc, different elements of One Piece kept expanding and one thing led to another, making the story as big as it is today.
Truly at the start I thought ‘ONE PIECE’ would end in five years, and in about a year and a half Luffy’s crew of ten would have gathered together. I thought of it like a video game but I was far too naive! It’s not that I wanted things to keep getting longer, that’s just what ended up happening!! — Eiichiro Oda
While Oda initially wantedOne Pieceto end in two years, that never came to be. The story kept stretching and for good reason. In fact, even now, it’s clear that there is about a decade’s worth of content that Oda has to tackle. Previously, around 2020, he stated that he wanted to end One Piece in 5 years. If that statement is anything to go by, then One Piece should already be close to wrapping up. However, fans know for a fact that they aren’t even close to the end of One Piece at this point in time. Yes, Luffy has 3 of the 4 Road Poneglyphs, but there are clearly a lot of challenges for the crew up ahead, and that just means the story isn’t going to end anytime soon. Luffy is yet to claim theOne Piece, and what comes after remains to be seen.
Oda Sets Up A Major War After The One Piece Is Found
The Final War Will Happen Soon
If there’s one thing about the end ofOne Piecethat most fans believe, it is that the Final War Will happen at one point in the Final Saga. Things have already been heading in that direction for quite a while now. The Final War was set up when Imuand the Five Eldersdecided to do a Great Cleaning one more time. Then, Lulusia was wiped off the face of Earth and that was just the beginning. Things have spiraled out of control since. The Reverie was attacked by the Revolutionary Army, and at the same time, Vegapunk dropped a message that basically suggested that whoever finds the One Piece will have the fate of the whole world in their hands.
Clearly, the truth of the world that isn’t clear just yet will be revealed when someone finds the One Piece for good. After that, the face of the world will have to change forever and this is a battle that fans are already looking forward to. This battle has beenset up by Oda himselfand it’ll most definitely be of massive proportions, great enough to shake the whole world, just as fans expect it to be.
Clearly, based on what Oda has set up so far, there has to come a war after the One Piece is claimed. Whitebeard openly stated that, the Oden flashback strongly hinted at it, and above all, it makes sense when taking into consideration how the plot is moving. Yet, Oda believes in something different when it comes to the final arc of One Piece.
Oda Suggests One Piece Will End When The One Piece Is Found
According To Oda, The One Piece Will Be Found At The End
While fans believe that there will be a massive war after theOne Pieceis claimed and that it makes perfect sense, Oda seems to have other plans. In his interview with Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan, the two were seen talking about the respective ends of their story. Aoyama revealed that he had already drawn the storyboard of his final chapter, which shocked even Oda. Meanwhile, Oda claimed that the situations around the ending changes, depending on how the main story in the manga goes, but the basis is the same, and that is to end the story once Luffy finds theOne Piece.
I’ve always pictured what the final chapter of ‘ONE PIECE’ would be like, though from time to time, the situation surrounding it changes. It will still be over whenever the One Piece is found in the series, haha. Anyway, this next arc is the final one. — Oda
Oda believes that One Piece will end when theOne Pieceis found, and this is quite confusing. Oda himself has set up a massive war in the final saga of the story that can only take place after theOne Pieceis found, so the claim of ending the series afterLuffy becomes the Pirate Kingis rather strange.
IfOne Pieceends as soon as Luffy becomes the Pirate King, then the final war will have to take place before Laugh Tale, and in that case, the whole story of the World Government and the past won’t even be clear. Luffy and the fans wouldn’t even know what happened in the past and why they’re fighting in the first place. Without finding out the past, it’s going to be impossible for the storyto make sense in the Final War, so Oda’s claim of ending the series as soon as the One Piece is found is likely not exactly accurate.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1143, is set to be August 01, 2025.
