Loki is the center of attentioninOne Pieceright now, which is expected, given thatOne Pieceis in the Elbaf arc right now. Right at the very beginning of the arc, it was quite clear to the fans that Loki would be a very important character and he’s certainly proven to be just that.
Loki stands out for many reasons, such as his incredible strength, using which he can destroy the whole world, his connection to Shanks, and even his character design, which, curiously enough, has his eyes completely bandaged. Fans are wondering as to why that is the case, and it is certainly a very intriguing choice from the author of the story, Oda.
Loki’s Eye Bandages
Loki is the Accursed Prince of Elbaf. He is known to be the prince of all the Giants as he’s the son of the former King, Harald. Loki also has a half-brother, Hajrudin, although he isn’t considered to be worthy of being the king due to having an outsider as a mother. Loki, however, has always been considered to be the fruit King by many, but his actions have been proven to be unkingly to many. Loki is perceived to be a villain by many fans and that’s how Oda is portraying him as well. Even in his design, Loki almost looks like a villain, with bandages all over his eyes.
You don’t really believe that I killed him with hate in my heart, do you? — Loki
Initially, fans assumed this was becauseLoki’s eyes are connected to his Devil Fruit abilityand keeping them hidden is a way to nerf his powers. However, fans recently got a Loki flashback in the manga, and it is clear that Loki’s eyes have always been bandaged.
Even before Harald died, Loki was always with his eyes shut. This clearly suggests that Loki’s eyes don’t have anything to do with his Devil Fruit ability at all.
Why Loki Wears Bandages On His Eyes
This Is Simply A Design Choice By Oda
Although it would’ve been interesting for there to be a deeper meaning behind Loki having his eyes covered, it doesn’t seem like that’s the case. It seems that Loki simply likes to keep his eyes covered because he’s used to it.The small glimpse of Loki in his childhood daysproves that this is simply Oda creating a unique character design for Loki.
I am the Sun God who will destroy the world! — Loki
Of course, that doesn’t mean there cannot be a reason for this. There could very well be something about Loki’s eyes that is tied to an event from his past, but it would have to have been something from his early childhood days.
At the very least, what fans know is that Loki’s bandaged eyes make for a cool character design and that’s likely how Oda came up with it. It is also possible that Oda drew some inspiration from Odin here, since he was one-eyed as well. At the very least, it is clear thatLoki’s powers aren’t connected to his eyesand that he’s kept these bandages for years upon years.
